"Don't jump!" A boy said, coming up from behind me.
I grinned at him then looked over the edge of the platform I stood on. "It's not that far!" I reassured him.
The boy had blond hair that swept over his forehead, a worried glint in his eyes as he warily looked over the edge. The slide was right next to us but it was broken. We had no way of getting down but to jump.
That's what you get for going to an abandoned playground with a kid you didn't know.
"When I'm down there, I'll catch you!" I said.
He didn't seem relieved. "I don't care if I get hurt. Just be careful."
At the time I didn't look much into the meaning behind his words. So instead I just took a leap of faith, very literally as I sailed towards the ground a lot faster than I expected.
Little did I know that wouldn't be the last time I'd make a choice like this.
