"Hey sis!"Leila popped her head out in the hall from her doorframe.
"Something up?"
"If I'm writing a book report on a fantasy genre what exactly do I put for the keys reasons?"
Leila listened to her brother and walked towards the hall to see him leaning on his arm. The table had a half eaten orange with a bag of caprisun next to it. His foot tapped the floor against his chair in a very slow tune. He looked up curving his lip to the side waiting for an answer.
"So what exactly are you struggling with?" Leila asked sitting down.
Jack twirled his pencil as he talked.
"It's a fantasy type of book so it's not like a non-fiction book. It's kinda... harder in a way."
"Well." Leila leaned forward. "What is the story about first off?"
"It's about a girl being Stockholm Syndromed into a kind of service by a being called a Fae." He explained. "Like a fairy race of powerful beings basically."
"Ok ok. Go on."
"So her family willingly gave her up without a fuss. Her sisters didn't help and were lazy just as her father despite his well-being as a cripple. So she was the only provider. She goes realizing they were not even going to try to defend their family and hope for the best. Even the Fae is disgusted by her family and still takes her to his homeland."
"Good hook for the understanding of the situation so far."
He smirked and continued.
"When she arrives in his home she sees his friend who has a mask on and when she gets a good look at her "captor" he too has a mask. He informs her it's a curse and that it will not come off without a horrible price. She spends her time doing basic household chores suprising the Fae's due to her calloused hands and rough around the edges personality in work. As time passes, she grows closer to her captor at his kindness for indulging in his history through a personal library."
"So she begins to understand his culture and societal standings/rules."
"Exactly. In a life or death scenario after she explores past the hunting ground limits she is caught in suprise by a fountain with a beast lurking in the shadows after she left this wonderful piece of architecture. She is ambushed, but after holding off the creature her captor, who goes by Tamlin after the hero, rescues her."
"Tell the name beforehand so you don't forget to mention that way later on. It's to help know the characters easier."
"Alright alright." Jack scribbled in his notes eyeing her when he finished.
"What happens then?"
"She is introduced to a Fae of Royalty that is a sly character that coaxed her into finding out Tamlin's true intentions to having her in his home. Makes her question and lose her trust in Tamlin essentially. The queen of the faes grows curious at the mention of her existence from said Fae and orders an execution to bind Tamlin to her will since he is a stand alone lord of his region that she wants to control. When the character is kidnapped she is bound in a prison after declaring her love for Tamlin. The word spreads and shortly after Tamlin realizes the Queen stole her away to use as leverage. It is then that the girl makes a questionable deal with a royal fae who coaxed her and stages a rebellion against the queen. She succeeds at a heavy cost to die and be reborn by the efforts of Tamlin to allow her human form to be shed and become a fae. She honors her deal to the royal and that's the end of the first book."
"Hmph." Leila smiled looking down. "Kinda almost sounds familiar to me." She frowned.
Jack knew what she meant and reached over to pat his hand gently on hers.
