Jimin didn't sleep that night, he was too anxious to close his eyes for more than a few moments at a time. His mind kept racing with the boy in the next room over controlling his thoughts. How the brunette ended up alone on the run down streets was the big question. Jungkook seemed too good for that. Selling himself? Did he even finish school? Jimin had an endless amount of questions about Jungkook's origin.
Eventually, the sun crept across the horizon after what seemed like one of the most painful and sleepless nights Jimin had had in awhile. Better now than never to get up. Jimin sat up, swinging his legs over the side of his bed so they dangled, just barely missing the floor. Curse genetics and my short height. He stretched and ran a hand through his hair which had still never been washed. He sighed, realizing taking a shower was an essential part of personal hygiene even though he had been slacking with that lately. He just couldn't get himself to do anything these days.
Jimin waded across his bedroom floor, the hardwood creaking under his weight as he walked. He ventured into the bathroom adjacent to his bedroom, turning on the shower and stripping out of his clothes before stepping into the cubicle of a shower.
As the hot water ran down his tense figure, Jimin thought back to the previous night. Is he crazy? Having a complete stranger live at his home? And for free? Jimin laughed silently, he was surely losing his mind. But there was just something about Jungkook. He was so young, there was so much more than the life he was living. Jimin refused to let the world take away his youth. Jungkook needed to enjoy his youth while he still had it rather than wonder where he would sleep that night or where his next meal would be every day.
Jimin exited the shower, wrapping a warm towel around himself. The trick was to place the towel next to the heater while he cleaned himself. He thought he was clever.
His phone was resting face down on the sink, Jimin picked it up to check it, having three missed phone calls all from Namjoon. He rolled his eyes, what could he possibly want this early in the morning?
"Hello?"
"Hi, did you need something?" Jimin questioned.
"Jimin, c'mon. Can't I call one of my dearest friends to say hello?" Namjoon's voice boomed through the other end of the phone.
"Let's be real here. It's too early for this shit."
"Okay, okay fine. We're all getting coffee and hanging around for awhile, you in?" Namjoon asked. Jimin tapped his fingers on the counter as he leaned against it, considering his friend's invitation.
"Could I bring someone?"
"Ooh, does little Jimin have a girlyfriend?" Namjoon teased.
"No- I uh... just answer my question." Jimin could feel his cheeks getting hot.
"Yeah, sure. I'll text you a time and place. See you then Chim Chim!" Namjoon chuckled before hanging up.
Jimin instantly received a text, he had to meet his friends within the hour. Crap. He had to wake Jungkook. He threw on a pair of shorts before going into the living room to find a sound asleep younger. Jungkook was curled in a ball on his side wrapped in a blanket. Jimin didn't want to wake him, he looked so peaceful. The boy must be exhausted from staying up most of the night. But he knew he couldn't leave Jungkook while he went out, he would feel awful. Plus, he enjoyed having the boy in his presence.
"Jungkook?" Jimin spoke from beside the occupied couch. He got no response.
"Jungkook." He tried again, shaking his shoulder slightly. Still nothing.
"Jungkook, time to get up!" Jimin yelled and shook Jungkook forcefully. Jungkook opened his eyes slowly, meeting Jimin's. When he realized where he was he sat up quickly, looking embarrassed.
"I'm sorry." He spoke.
"Don't be! I'm sorry I woke you, you looked exhausted. I was going to let you sleep but my friend Namjoon wants to get some food and I don't want to leave you here so I want you to come. You can meet my friends." Jimin rambled nervously. Jungkook wasn't awake enough to process the elder's words so he just nodded.
"Okay, so we need to leave soon. Do you have any clean clothes to wear?" Jimin asked but Jungkook didn't say anything, he was momentarily distracted by the elder, who's baggy shorts hung low on his hips. Jungkook couldn't help but stare at his toned abdomen.
"Jungkook?" Jimin noticed the boy had zoned out, but he wasn't sure on what. Jungkook shook himself out of his stare and tried to fight the blush that was threatening to creep onto his cheeks.
"Do you have anything to wear?" Jimin repeated his question, going into his room to get dressed. He pulled on a black muscle tank to match his red skinny jeans found on his floor. He wasn't trying to impress anyone so he didn't stress over his appearance much. A few rings and a silver chain to dress up the overall plain outfit.
"Uh, yeah." Jungkook lied. Jimin assumed he was lying due to the fact that his previous outfit was in such a grotesque state. He looked through his own clothing, gathering a green and blue plaid flannel and a pair of jeans along with a white t-shirt.
"These should fit, the flannel might be a bit too big but it'll be fine." Jimin handed him the clothing. Jungkook wasn't sure how to respond.
"Just say thank you. It's fine, what's mine is yours." Jimin said before disappearing back into his room, "We're leaving soon so go get ready!"
Jungkook threw himself together in a hurry, hoping he would look presentable enough to meet Jimin's friends. Will they like me? Or will they just look at me like a charity case? The more he thought about it, that's all he was. Jimin just felt bad for him. He would get tired and give up on him soon enough, everyone does. He got dressed and ran his fingers through his clean hair and smiled slightly. He would enjoy all of this while it lasted.
"Ready yet?" Jimin called from the living room, Jungkook had been getting ready in the bathroom. Jungkook realized he'd been staring in the mirror at his reflection, his arms leaning against the counter with his hands wrapped over the edges of either side.
"Yeah." Jungkook called, taking in his appearance once more. He wasn't sure why he cared about how he looked by he still tries to fix the flyaway hairs on the top of his mop- like head and exited the bathroom.
When he saw Jimin, he was taken aback slightly. The elder was breathtaking. Jimin thought the same about the younger; the way his clothes hung off Jungkook was perfect. The pair realized they were staring at each other and looked at each other momentarily before Jimin laughed nervously.
"We should get going." Jimin spoke, grabbing his keys and leaving the apartment. Jungkook followed in foot, shutting the door behind him and taking a deep breath before catching up with the elder.
To say their encounter was awkward would be an understatement. The car ride was silent, both boys realizing what had just happened and choosing not to speak about it. It would be better that way, no weirdness.
As the quaint corner cafe came into view, Jungkook began to fidget, forgetting what had just happened at Jimin's home. To say he was nervous was an understatement. He pulled at the sleeves of his flannel- Jimin's flannel- and tries to mentally prepare himself for meeting Jimin's friends.
He wasn't sure why he was nervous, it's not like his friends would really try and talk to him or anything. He was Jimin's accessory; his new shiny toy. Everyone would probably pretend he wasn't even there and carry on. That's how people typically reacted when Jungkook was around. Like he was invisible.
"Ready?" Jimin asked as he parked. Jungkook nodded slowly, trying to swallow a lump in his throat that wouldn't go away. Jimin picked up on his uneasiness.
"You'll be fine. My friends may be annoying assholes but they're harmless." Jimin smiled, the smile reaching his eyes and crinkling slightly. He placed a reassuring hand on Jungkook's shoulder; sending tingles up his spine.
"O-okay." Jungkook breathed, trying to remain composed. Jimin was still resting his hand on the boy's shoulder.
"Let's go!" Jimin giggled, bouncing out of the car and around to the other side to open Jungkook's door for him. Jungkook sighed slightly, watching Jimin. He was like an excited puppy, but Jungkook was enjoying him more and more by the second.
