A pretty gold and black butterfly flew past her catching her attention, her eyes followed it and it landed on a flower. A fluttering sound behind her distracted her from the butterfly, and she turned her neck to look behind her; her eyes widened, and her heart beat increased rapidly. Her breathing became audible, and she tried to hold back a loud scream.
Behind her, attached to her back, were wings; beautiful glittering white wings with amazing patterns on it."Wha...wha..what?!" she looked around to at least find someone that would give her the answers or perhaps explanations that she needed.
"Or..." her frown deepened "... Am I In heaven?" Imediately she said that, there was a loud thunderclap followed by multiple lightnings and the sky slowly began to darken."help us!" A voice startled her. She turned and saw a girl. No. A fairy! Yes, a female fairy, She was in all pink, her dress, necklace, wrist band that was barely holding onto her left wrist, cute shoes and wings, all pink!
She was running towards her, short of breath, her pink Bob hair was a mess and her wings were fallen like they were too weak to elevate her into the air, she was just few feet from Deborah and,"Wake up! Wake up! Wake up! It's morning!"
•••Saturday morning, fifteen-year-old Deborah lay sprawled on her bed as the clock chimed nine am. Eyes already awake but body still asleep.
"If only I get a chance to see a fairy," she muttered sleepily watching, through her open windows, the California black walnut leaves swaying rhythmically.
It started a few weeks back, pictures of real fairies caught on camera flooded the internet, but most people pushed it aside and deadpanned that it was bogus including her best friend, Rebecca.
But Deborah turned deaf ears to all of the comments and started shopping for books about the winged mythical creatures; fictional and non-fictional, fantasizing about a tiny random fairy knocking on her window during a stormy night and asking for shelter, then becoming her fairy friend till the storm is over.
Yeah...imagination...makes everything seem so effortlessly feasible.
She heard her mom call her downstairs for breakfast, but her body... Still sleeping."Debbieeeeeee!" Her mom's voice called out again, louder this time. Deborah sat up and groaned.
"Coming Mom! Just a minute!" She slowly got off her double bed and headed to the bathroom to wash her face and brush her teeth before skidding out of her room.
.
"I had a dream Mom," Sofia said adjusting on the dining chair."Tell me about it, honey." Mrs Harper said washing a dish and a bowl in the kitchen Sink.
"So, I was in this room, it was very beautiful, so beautiful, momma, in all purple, and there was this woman-"
"Morning Mom," Deborah greeted, joining her seven-year-old twins sisters at the dining table."Morning sweetie."
"-she came into my room and called me princess. She called me princess, Mom!" Sofia squealed.
"Wow, that's a beautiful dream." Mrs Harper said patting her hands dry with a napkin.
"Was I in the dream?" Elena asked taking a quick sip from her chocolate tea.
