Marinette Stone-Rolling, Guardian of the Miraculous,  newly adopted daughter of Jagged Stone and Penny Rolling, Clara Nightingale and Audrey Bourgeois, best friend of Chloe Bourgeois, Luka Stone, Adrien Agreste, anonymous designer MDC, singer Nettie, a student who was light years ahead of her current class was stumped.

She was incredibly stumped-how could someone be so rude?

This 'someone' was a kid called Damian Wayne.

Marinette and her parents had moved to Gotham not too long ago, after she was being bullied by Lila, who had managed to turn the whole class against her, all the teachers and even her parents. Remebering what had happened that day always leaves Marinette in tears.

Marinette had just arrived back from school, covered in bruises, and her parents didn't even notice. She was used to it. After Lila came, her parents had gradually become more distant with her, barely talking at dinner, that is, when they showed up to dinner. They barely even looked at her, and when they did it was often a look filled with disappointment. 

Marinette shook her head, remembering Hawk Moth

'positive thoughts Marinette, you CAN'T be akumatised'

She smiled, an extremely bright smile, but only those who really knew her could see the sadness, the pain behind the smile. After she showered, she heard her parents speqaking to somebody.

'No, no its ok. We understand.'

'I dont know why she's been acting this way recently, don't worry we'll be sure to talk to her.'

'I apologise for her behaviour. I hope you forgive us.'

'Ok have a lovely day, and swing by the bakery for anything for free, its the least we can do.'

'MARINETTE DUPAIN-CHENG, COME DOWN THIS INSTANT'

Marinette went downstairs, wondering what that call was about.

'Yes Mam-'

She was interrupted by the loud smack that echoed around the room, making a large bruise appear on her face. Eyes watering, she held her cheek, staring at her Maman.

'How dare you steal Lila's designs! Her mother told me she worked extremely hard on them every day after school, and with her limited resources, you cost them a lot of money. You know she's a diplomat, right? We could get into a lot of legal trouble because of you!'

'Marinette, from now on, to teach you a lesson about hard work, you will pay rent to stay in this house and to eqat our fopod, you have a curfew of 7p, and will pay for everything you use in here indefinitely. Got it?'

Marinette looked up at her parents, face wet with tears but her eyes were blank.

'Yes Father, yes Mother, I understand' she said in a monotonous voice, locking away all her emotions. Then she left, with her mothers angry glare focussed on the back of her head.

Luckily, Marinette owned a multi-trillion dollar company, MDC, which allowed her to pay for the rent. But a few weeks later, Lila struck.

She came back from school, to find her bags packed, waiting by the bakery door, covered in bruises since her parents have taken to abusing her when she got home 'to show her how Lila feels when she does it'.

'Marinette, as of today, you are no longer a Dupain-Cheng, you are a disgrace to this family and I don't ever want to see your face again.'

Tears streaking her face she left, collapsed on the street and began crying, as she camped out in front of her best friend's, Chloe's hotel. The last thing she remebered was an oddly familiar voice saying 'Marinette?'
