- Also, are you guys getting confused by this sudden change of names of the main character ?Her real name is Irina, and as part of her new identity her name is Katherine. Anyway, enjoy the chapter and let me know your thoughts on the story.
In the quiet yet dimly lit cafe, she sat alone at a corner table, lost in a sea of memories. He had gone on that mysterious trip a couple of days ago, leaving her secretly longing for his return. It was a forbidden, whatever they had, it shouldn't have been kindled in the first place. But against all reason, their souls found solace in each other's presence.
But how could she stop herself from falling in love with him?
He had a way about him that was both intriguing and mysterious. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but there was something alluring about him that drew her in. Perhaps it was the way he carried himself, with a confidence that bordered on arrogance. Or maybe it was the way he spoke, his words carefully chosen and delivered with a hint of mystery.
Whatever it was, she found herself captivated byhim. She would spend hours thinking about him, trying to unravel the mysterythat surrounded him. And yet, the more she learned about him, the more enigmatic he became.
"Here's your coffee, dear," said the waitress, leaving the freshly made coffee on the table in front of Katherine.
"Thank you," she continued, "Can I ask you something?", she smiled warmly, crossing her arms. As the scent of freshly brewed coffee mingled with the bittersweet ache in her heart.
"Of course," she smiled back, putting her hands on her hips, waiting for the question.
"What caused the behavior of your colleague?", she explained, '' I'm not used to that kind of avoidance, he's usually very happy when he sees me, and today he didn't even want to accept my order. '', she furrowed her brows, seeing the expression on her interlocutor's face, which seemed to know what it was about, but her answer, however, did not confirm it.
,, I wouldn't know what to tell to you and it's very strange for us as well. But I guess someone else had a hand in it.'', was all she said before she went to serve another customer, accompanied by Katherine's gaze, after which her gaze settled on the person she was talking about.
He stood there so executed and upset. He kept his gaze on the ground, avoiding eye contact with her at all costs. She exhaled thinking about the reason for this behavior and raised the roll of her sweater, hiding all those hickeys that adorned her beautiful neck - marking her.
Maybe the same person caused both of that.
The thought of all those nights during which she got them brought a smile to her face decorated with a slight blush on her cheeks. For even though he was physically absent, his presence lingered in every corner of her soul. It was wrong. He soon overcame the feeling of guilt and remorse. It seemed impossible, but she knew she had to try her best to find a way around her forbidden feelings and focus on keeping her promise and doing what she had to.
How did she manage to find someone who would help her get over Stephen so quickly? Did she find that security in Dun- Richard that Stephen provided her? That would be the only logical answer. Given that Richard and Stephen had nothing in common, almost nothing.
