"Piper," my dad uttered from the front seat. I was sitting in the back with my headphones in listening to Ed Sheeran, zoning out everyone and everything. "Piper," he said a bit louder. I turned my music up a bit. I didn't want to talk to him now. He was the one dragging me to this stupid party in the first place. "Piper!" He yelled. I yanked the buds out of my ears.

"Hm?" I responded.

"Can you promise me you'll be respectable and nice no matter how snobby the people are."

"Um. Well, no." I plainly stated. "One does not make a promise one cannot keep."

"Please. I really need you to."

"Dad, if these people are rude an obnoxious, don't expect me to be their servant."

"I'm not, I just- tell you what, if you promise me you'll be kind and at least TRY to be sophisticated, I'll give you a raise in your allowance." He said. I raised my eyebrows.

"Deal," I muttered, shoving my earbuds back in. After a few more minutes, we were entering through a pair of huge gates, opening up to an even bigger mansion. Once we parked, I stepped out of the car, careful not to ruin my white heels.

"Remember to be on your best behavior," my dad reminded me as we went inside. The first thing I saw was the larger than life chocolate fountain. I made my way over to it very quickly and snatched up a plate of strawberries. After drowning them in the sweet deliciousness, I took a seat with my parents. A spotlight flashed on a stage positioned at the front of the room and a man in a tuxedo walked out.

"Hello and thank you all for coming," he said. "Now, as you know, my oldest daughter, Paisley, turned thirteen yesterday." He gestured to a table right near the stage where a skinny girl with white-blonde hair sat.

"For her birthday, I decided to do something bigger than ever! I know how you like One Direction. So, I present to you, THE One Direction!" His daughter and two other girls siting with her started squealing as the curtain parted, revealing five unconventionally nice looking guys. They started singing an all-too-familiar song by Blondie. I knew about these guys and I did really like their music, but I wasn't exactly a crazed fan. I had a decent amount of their songs on my iPod, but I hadn't heard this one yet. I put my elbows on the table, listening intently as the curly haired one, Harry- I think was his name- finished his solo. Then, the one with the darker complexion and black hair started singing. By now, I was bobbing my head along with the music. Soon, the blonde one came to the front of the stage and sang his part. The CEO's daughter jumped up and started screaming "I LOVE YOU, NIALL!!!" That took everyone aback, seeing that his family was supposed to be the sophisticated one. After he completed his part, the one with really short brown hair came up to the front. He had the most adorable, innocent look on his face. "AHHHHHHHHH LIAM!!!" yelled one of the other girls. I giggled. I didn't care what anyone thought, I was singing along to this part and playing my invisible drums. The one with the light brown hair and blue eyes playfully pushed Liam aside to finish the chorus. I laughed, actually enjoying this stinking party. I heard the girls at the front scream "LOUIS!" and guessed that was his name. I liked Louis a lot. He was the most attractive, to me and I liked his style. As I was singing and basically looking like an idiot, Louis caught my eye and he winked at me. Winked. At. Me. I started laughing and he kept his eyes on me for the rest of the song, making weird faces at me. Once they were done, I went back to the chocolate fountain to replenish my sugar and they took pictures with the other girls. After that, I sat down the same spot and ate.

"Your mom and I will be back in a moment. We're going to talk to Daniel." My dad said, as if I should know who this Daniel guy was. I nodded my head as they got up and I was left by myself. Story of my life.

"Is anyone sitting here?" A male voice asked from behind me. I turned around to face one of the members of 1D, the one with the buzz cut. He was even cuter up close.

"Um. Nope," I smiled as he took the seat next to me. He had a plate full of chocolate fruit as well.

"So what's your name?" I questioned, forgetting what those girls called him. He looked at me skeptically.

"Liam," he smirked, raising one of his eyebrows. "And you?"

"Piper," I grinned, extending my hand to him.

"Nice to meet you," he said, biting off a section of a kiwi.

"Same here. Where's your band mates?"

"Oh, am I not good enough?" He joked.

"No, no. I wasn't saying that," I mused with laughter.

"Zayn and Harry had hair appointments and it's Louis's mum's birthday, so they had to leave."

"Okay. I was just wondering," I remarked, popping a grape in my mouth.

"There you are!" I heard a thick Irish accent say. "Liam, you walk too fast and all they had was fruit at the chocolate fountain, so I got a cup of it."

"Cup of pure chocolate?!" Liam's eyes bugged out of his head.

"Yeah buddy," the adorable blonde took a seat on the opposite side of Liam.

"Want some?" He offered to his friend.

"No thanks, Niall," Liam turned back to look at me. "So, are you related to these people or what?"

"Well, I was pretty much dragged here by my dad, who works for them," I scoffed.

"Oh. Fun," Liam said sarcastically. I nodded my head. For the rest of the night, I sat there and had a very enthralling conversation with both of the boys. Liam and I hit it off very well, he even laughed at my jokes. He was a funny guy himself, I liked him. By the time the shindig was over, I was kind of upset to leave him.

"Piper, it was very nice to meet you," he stated. "I'd like to see you again actually." He cleared his throat nervously. "Do you maybe want to go out sometime?"

"Sure!" I agreed. We swapped phone numbers and he told me he'd call soon. I couldn't believe it. I'd actually interested a guy enough for him to ask me out. To add to that, he wasn't just a normal guy, he was famous. I mean, I'd had a boyfriend before, but they were all losers and all wanted the same thing. He seemed very different to me. He was easy to talk to and he seemed like a down to earth guy. I was looking forward to going out with him.
