It was such a strange thing to see the guy that once reminded me of an innocent puppy turn into an overprotective monster. He was keeping me away from Lou in every way possible, but of course there was no way to tame the wild beast that was Louis Tomlinson. He was the guy that lived to break rules and sever barriers, even those put up by his best friend. His first attempt was at dinner on Saturday night. I was sitting around the table with my family and a harsh rapping sound came from my door. My mother got up and opened it up to reveal a very chipper, clean-shaven Mr. Tomlinson. He held a bouquet of red roses and wore a bright blue button-up shirt.
"Hullo, Mrs. Eller!" he greeted my mom and shoved the bundle of roses in her arms. She looked at me with an expression of unbelief. I awkwardly stood up, walking over to him. I looked him straight in his blue eyes.
"What the hell are you doing here?" I whispered, so no one would hear. He gave me a look that said "I'll tell you later," so I let it go... for now. I put a huge grin on my face and turned to my confused parents.
"Uh, this is Louis," I introduced him. "Louis, these are my parents."
"Lovely to meet the both of you!" he shook their hands. "Oh! I didn't know you were in the middle of dinner. Er, should I come back later?" My mother had a look of profound delight in her eyes and I could tell, there was to be no ridding of Louis Tomlinson.
"No, no. Please stay for dinner, hon!" my mother suggested. He shrugged.
"Are you sure? I didn't mean to interrupt, but if you insist," he sat down as we enjoyed our dinner of salmon and vegetables. Both of my parents were quite happy to see that I had finally brought a boy home... even if it was the wrong one.
Soon, we had finished and I led Louis into the living room while my family cleaned up the kitchen and such. We sat down on the couch in silence until he turned to face me.
"Now do you want to know why I'm here?" he asked. His hand rested just a few inches away from my own. I nodded.
"I don't want to want to be around you. I don't want to enjoy your company at all, but I do and I can't deny the inevitable," he said in a hushed tone. He slowly scooted a bit closer. "I'm also not the kind of guy to butt in on my best friend's relationships. Just know that I have a fatal attraction to you, Piper Eller," his hot breath hit my ears with intensity as I tried to push the idea of kissing him out of my mind. "Whatever happens, know that I'll be here. If anyone does anything to hurt you, just call me, okay?" he moved his hand over mine and held it tightly between his fingers. He bent his head down and lightly kissed my shoulder. "This should be the last time we see each other."
I nodded. "I know."
"I'll go now," he rose from the couch and made his way towards the door.
"Wait!" I ran over to him quickly and wrapped my arms around him. I always felt safe right here. Whereas with Liam, it felt cold and unnatural. He lifted my chin up, so we'd be eye-to-eye.
"Be careful, Piper," he smiled and brushed his lips against mine, kissing them lightly. He backed up, exiting my house and quite possibly my life, altogether.
