"Why am I here?" Keeho asked, looking up at the two older men staring at him.
"You're here for some really urgent work, Yoon Keeho," Jimin said, his dark orbs staring intensely at Keeho.
"Jeonghan is going to testify about Seungcheol's crimes, including yours and Lee Taeyong's. The Taeyong case won't be that solid since his own parents will talk against Jeonghan, but if he brings up your name, I want you to defend Seungcheol," Seonghwa explained.
"But why would I do that? I want his destruction! Whatever he did to me wasn't right and I won't—"
"But would Aerin like it if she was alive?" Jimin interrupted, his tone sharp.
Keeho looked at Jimin, wide-eyed. "Aerin? Where's she? She's not here anymore, so why would I agree with you? I hate Seungcheol. Whatever he did wasn't right! Everyone knows that."
"But you know Aerin loved Seungcheol. If she were here, she would have hated you for not taking Seungcheol's side," Jimin said calmly.
"But what he did to me? Was that right? He cheated on me! His friends, along with him, raped me when I was only fourteen! Was all of that right?" Keeho's voice cracked with anger.
"What you did to Aerin was right?" Jimin shot back.
Tears glistened at the corners of Keeho's eyes. He knew he killed Aerin out of jealousy and would always repent for it. He would never be able to forgive himself for killing the only reason for his existence.
"You fucking killed her. We know you're the one who shot that bullet! You loved her? Really? What kind of person kills his own love, Keeho?" Jimin's voice was harsh.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to shoot her. It was a mistake. Forgive me, Aerin," Keeho mumbled as he broke into tears.
"If you're really sorry, then do something Aerin would have done. She would do anything to save Seungcheol, and she wants you to do that too. So do it," Seonghwa urged.
Keeho rubbed the tears from his cheeks. "I'll do anything for her. I'll do whatever you tell me. Will she be happy with that? Will she forgive me after this?"
"Of course, Keeho. She will. Her happiness is definitely more important than your revenge, right?" Jimin reassured him.
"For me, Aerin is above anything and anyone, even myself," Keeho said with conviction.
"Don't utter a single word against Seungcheol, even if you die. Remember?" Seonghwa's voice was firm, Keeho nodded furiously.
"Aerin would have loved it if she were here. We pray for her soul." Jimin said almost robotically and smirked as he looked at Seonghwa's face, earning a nod from him. Both of their lips curved into a small smile, only if Keeho knew the truth.
It was the last day before Keeho's execution. He was wandering around the prison campus in the evening. Since it was his last day, he was getting treated far better than the other prisoners. He wandered over the grass, gazing at the night sky full of stars. The dark blue sky would have looked dull and depressing without those stars, but somehow, they made Keeho happy. He remembered the day he first left the hospital with Aerin and moved in with her, under the same sky. He always remembered Aerin's saying "stars are like hope, even though the stars vanish in the sunlight they are still there, the whole time. Just like hopes may seem to have disappeared in our hard time but they are always there."
"Did you like your life? Wasn't it too short?"
Keeho was surprised to hear a familiar voice behind him. It couldn't be hers, right? He immediately turned around to find a tall female figure standing in the dark. But Keeho recognized her instantly.
