Alex and Henry are both in the modeling industry. The events leading up to the first chapter are similar to the book and movie with some twists.
The wedding from the movie in this fic was actually a photoshoot, and the two were seen arguing near the prop cake and bumped it over and destroyed it. This was during a collaboration shoot from two different agencies . (Henry and Alex are from different agencies) Lots of tweets and rumors were put out about how unprofessional the two modeling agencies are and so to cover it all up they said it was staged and urged Henry and Alex to go out and be seen together to show they are friends.
They first went ice skating with some of the other models but then Alex can't really skate and he dragged henry down with him. Henry ended up getting a small cut on his hip from the blade of Alex's skate. They played it off though for the press. They started texting back and fourth banter and turned out they both had something in common. They both play piano so they went to a piano shop and had a sort of un spoken competition one uping eachother. Someone recorded it on their phone and posted it everywhere.
Then they had gone boating together and Alex's somehow convinced henry to try tubing. Henry was definitely unsure at first but actually had a blast, minus getting thrown over and flown off by big waves nearly 20 seconds in. The two started texting more and more, Alex teasing him about how goofy he looked getting thrown over and Henry responding with how Alex looks like he can't swim despite all the swimsuit magazines he's been in
The next time they saw each other was at another agency collab. They were modeling Henry's agencies Halloween line. This was probably one of their biggest shows in their life.
