"Oh no! I completely forgot." I pull out my phone and am shocked and pleased when I read what the messages say.
"I felt that it had to be said and after what happened last night I didn't think you were going to text me first." He explains.
The first message read, "Hey, i'm really sorry about yesterday. I understand that I upset you with my cheesy efforts at making you smile but just so you know it was worth it. Your smile is beautiful and I would give anything to see it more often than I do now. You must be excited thinking that I'm asking you out, after all everyone would love to be with me. Sorry though cause i'm not haha, not yet at least. Well yeah sorry..."
The second, "Was that weird? I feel like that was really weird."
The third, "It was wasn't it? You're not answering so i'm guessing it was. Well that really sucks.. I don't know what to say now sooooo... Yeah you should answer."
"I didn't read them 'cause I thought you were mad at me and that you were going to tell me that you didn't want to see me anymore." I avoid his gaze, "I wasn't ready to read that type of message from you yet."
"After dinner we're going to talk, okay?" He states it more than he asks.
"About what?" I ask nervously.
"That."
"What do you mean?"
"How nervous you get when you think you have to talk about yourself." I open my mouth to say something but he stops me. "Don't try to explain it or make up some excuse for it right now, or later actually. You're going to talk about yourself, we're on a date." He laughs and it eases my nerves a little bit but I'm still tense and he can tell.
"I'll drink myself senseless and then maybe you can get some backstory out of me. It's just a possibility though, even drunk me has a little common sense." I laugh and step out of the car. I adjust my dress and grab my purse out of the car.
"You're supposed to let me help you out of the car." He says and pouts.
"I'm capable of helping myself out of a car." I put my finger to his pouting lips, "You can hold my arm though."
"Oh my god! Hailey is actually letting me touch her!" He says in mock surprise and looks at some woman passing by and shouts, "She's letting me touch her! I get to touch the Hailey!" The woman looks at him like he's crazy and walks away a little faster. I slap his arm and we both laugh at his outrageous little show.
He wraps his arm in mine and leads us up the steps to the restaurant. He opens the door for me and I can't help but notice how much of a gentleman he's being tonight. While I was worried that he wasn't going to want to talk to me anymore he was worrying about if I would want to come with him tonight. I'm surprised I did though, this is my first date since Andrew. If it had been anyone but Ty who asked me out tonight I don't think that I would've come. He's just something else and even if I don't want to be in a relationship I still want him to be a special part of my life.
I get brought back from my thoughts when Ty gives the young man in the front his name. "Ty, for two."
The young man smiles at me and says, "What a lovely date you have." I blush and smile back at him.
Ty creeps his arm around my waist and replies rudely, "Thanks, I know. Can you please show us to our table now? I'm starved and you wouldn't want to keep my lovely date waiting would you?"
The man gives Ty a dirty look but leads us to our table without another word. Our table is in the very back of the restaurant but I'm glad that it is. It gives me a sort of one on one time with Ty.
