Death by Staff- Chapter 5

I awoke to Bella shaking me and repeating "Leo, wake up, Leo." I slowly booted up my body for the torment of school today. As I grabbed my stuff I noticed Caleb sitting on the sofa with his hands folded in front of his face like he was confused.

"You okay, Caleb." I asked him as I pulled my shirt over my head.

"Huh? Yeah, I'm fine," he replied sad-like.

"Bella, watch the door," I told her.

She walked to the door and I whisper to Caleb "What happened, Caleb?"

"I'm the son of Hermes, right?" He asked.

"Yeah, you are his son." I replied to him quietly.

"While you were asleep, he came by to see his niece and nephew. He also came to tell me that a war has begun to break out and requires our assistance. I told him after the fire you two were my responsibility to keep safe from the truth." He told me.

"What happened that started it, the war I mean?" I questioned with intrigue.

"..... Some Makhai were sent to attack Mt. Olympus but they crossed paths with Titan." He stated. "It didnt end well for them."

"Okay, well we best be off to school now," Bella said as she sees a bus roll by.

I helped Caleb up off the sofa and into his room to get the keys. When he walked outside to his car, we notice two packages were sitting on our doorstep. Caleb picks them up and says "They are addressed to you two."

On the ride to school, we open them and gasp at what's inside. I got what looked to be the hilt of an old sword while Bella got a pair of gauntlets. Caleb glances back and tells us "Keep those concealed in your backpacks, okay?" We agree to hide them.

We get to school, we are greeted by Anna, Jericho and Eli, we all agree that school has a different feeling in the air, something electric and dark. We talk as we head for our classes but a group of kids are blocking our way to class, they say a fight broke out between a teacher and student. Principal Jacobs walks down the hall with fire in his eyes and everyone scrambles to their classes not to get caught. Of course Mr. Jacobs hates me for some reason and catches me and Anna right as we enter our classroom.

"Where do you two think your going?" He said as he grabbed our shoulders.

"To class you dumb fuck," I mumble under my breath.

He spun me around, grabbed me shirt with both hands and lifted me into the air. I could tell the class was shocked because it got eerily quiet. "Office, now!!" He grumbled in a demonic voice.

I walk into the office to see 'Cody' sitting a chair with blood on his arm, shirt and face. "What the hell happened?" I whispered to him.

He said something in what I interpreted to be Greek language but I didn't understand it. I felt like death was staring at the back of my head but it was just Mr. Jacobs. "Come here you two," He called to us.

Cody and I stand up and walk into his office where two people sat. I looked at them and i thought they were Cody's parents.... I was wrong.

"Leo, these people are from CPS and are here to take you and your sister. They deemed your brother unfit to watch over you," Mr. Jacobs said.

"Why? He is a perfectly good person to watch us he'a been doing it for years," I asked with a large amount of concern.

I could literally see the heat flare in his eyes. "Because it seems that your brother never kept a record or in fact a will that states he becomes your guardian." He said with ferocity.

I stopped to think them looked over at Titan who was just minding his own business.

I raised my eye brow in confusion and asked, "Why is Cody here then?"

"Hmm... I dont remember why so there is no need for you to be here." as he that his arms materializes a plasma blaster and he blows Cody out of his chair and through the wall. I dove out of the way and backed up until my back hit the door. I opened the door and began to run when tentacles whipped around my legs and started dragging me back. I grabbed a coat rack and swan at the tentacles. The rack shifted into a sword and cut the tentacles. Cody groans and pushes the dry wall off of him. I help him up and see Anna and Eli come running down the hall.

"What happened," they said simultaniously.

"Mr. Jacobs is some kind of tentacle monster," i replied straining under Titan's weight which was getting suprisingly heavier.

Ambrose comes busting through the doors with Orion, Caleb and others I didn't know, Jericho and Bella came riding in on a centaur's back.

"Guys, this is Xever," Bella said while climbing down. She ran over and hugged us.

Caleb and Orion ran over to us while Ambrose was shouting orders at the others. Orion grabbed Titan and we carried him out of there.

We get the younglings out first while Orion and I carry Titan out. Right as we get out something clenches onto my should and I'm whisked into the air.

"Leo!!" I hear Bella and Anna scream as I climb higher and higher.

I kick around and try to break free but it was useless. I look up to see a ferocious monster that had six arms each connected with a thin membrane of skin. I swung my body hard enough to kick my legs up and kick the monster in the face. It roars and lets go. I never put two and two together to realize how high it took me into the air. I'm pretty sure I was falling from sixty thousand feet. I feel a huge tug and an enormous amount of pain. I glance up to see the monster gripping me again but the claws dug into my shoulder so much I was spouting blood.

"Those are called Furies," a female familiar like voice beckoned. I looked up thinking it was the fury but she grunted on every flap trying to carry my weight. I could see the definition in her muscles like my eyes became little x-rays. Everything seemed to slow down, the trees seem to blur but we didn't speed up.

"My name is Chima, akra," she said "you will get to meet me soon enough."

"What was that monster that took Mr. Jacobs' location back at the school." I asked with concern.

"He is what we call a Manticore Omega, or Spawn of the Kraken," Chima informed.

We continue talking even when I doze off. After what seemed like hours I awake to see myself lying in a chamber with a woman sleeping with her back to me. I try to get up but my arms are in pain, when I look my shirt it's drenched, along with my shoulders and cot, in blood.
