Calm, quiet and cold. Staring at the pruned toes fiddling with the leaf at the bottom of the pool. I hear muffling over the surface of the pool and look up to see the rippling figure of my mother. I lift my head out of the water to see what she wanted.
"What did you say?" I asked her while wadding across the pool.
"I said you should be getting sleep not swimming all hours of the night like you used to do, Anna," she stated.
"OK," I replied as I got out and dried off "but I feel more at ease in the water."
"Well you start school tomorrow and I don't want kids to think your weird like they did at the last school," she said with a hint of concern in her voice.
I stopped drying my hair and looked at the ground with remourse "I know," I sadly said to her. I went inside and changed into my PJs and I instantly went to sleep as my head hit the pillow.
The same nightmare returns to me for the third time. I start with flames all around me and the rock I'm stranded on; I try to find water to put the fire out with but I don't see any. I feel a huge gust of wind hit me and I drop to the ground. I look up to see 'Him' flying down to me but this time He lands in front of me and stares with intrigue. I don't know what to do but before I react, He speaks to me which shocked me. I was surprised a dragon could talk but this was a nightmare after all.
"What's your name little one," he said in a deep voice.
"A-Anna Valdez,"
"Well, young Anna Valdez, I am the mighty Leonidas, you have been chosen by a guild of magical beings known as The Guardians," he said as he circled me. "You will meet other people like you but I cannot tell you whom. You will meet those people with whom have different backgrounds, past lives and secrets."
I didn't believe a word he said which I think he read my mind because he became quite agitated.
He glared at me hard with the most amazing Sapphire blue eyes I've ever seen. "You think this is a joke!" he roared. Before he could finish, a huge flash of light appeared overhead and I suddenly woke up to see lightning flashing over the sky. I was hoping for rain but it was just heat lightning. I didn't fall back asleep because I was mostly afraid of seeing Leonidas again and having him tell me more fake things that I know aren't possible.
I got up about 6 a.m. to see that my little brother and sister were already awake and eating breakfast. "Morning Jericho and Elijah," I said while trying to flatten what is the ball of static which is my hair. I made some breakfast and got all my gear ready to go to my new school. The bus pulls up to our driveway and my nervousness soars like a rocket. I laugh a little when I see a pick-up truck caught behind the bus. Jericho and Eli get irritated and push me to the bus. The ride to school was a silent one for me but Jericho and Eli made fast friends.
I get to Brickleberry High School and see all the other kids hugging and high-fiving their friends while I walk stealth-like to the office. Before I made it to the doors I notice a boy my age and a younger girl get out of the truck that was stuck behind us. Eli pulls on my sleeve.
"You okay, Anna?" he asked.
"Huh? Yeah I'm fine," I replied confusingly.
He pokes my side and says sarcastically "Chill out and try to act normal, we don't need people to think your weird for what you can do."
I ignored his comment and grab my schedule from the office secretary. I get to each of my classes fast enough to get a seat in the back of the room. I notice in every one of my classes is that boy I saw earlier, he sits in the only other seat in the back of the classrooms. I wondered most of the day if he noticed that I was new.
Lunch was the scariest part of my day today. I had nowhere to sit, so I sat at the only table with no one at it. I quietly eat my lunch when the boy sits at my table. Apparently his name is Leonardo from what I heard from the teachers. I said 'Hi' and he just nodded back. I slid toward him and he stopped picking at his food. He looked up and we both shocked each other when ours eyes met. He had the same magnificent eyes as that dragon Leonidas. We blushed and didn't talk the rest of the day. I couldn't get him out of my head, he had the same eyes as Leonidas and I was also curious on why he sat at the table with only me at it. I had to find him and figure it out.
