Chapter 1. Change Of Heart

The cold walls grew from the floor and closed her in. The dark crystals blocking her off from the rest of the city. The shadows enclosing around, and cutting off her vision. Breathing heavily, she curled up on the floor, Tears streaming down. She was trapped, and now she could never complete the quest that Princess Celestia gave her.

"Twilight! Twilight are you there?" Came voice from outside the walls

Her head lifted up, the shadows slowly backing away. Her vision was returned, but she was still trapped.

"Spike? Is that you?" She asked, voice quivering

"Oh Twilight, thank Celestia that you are okay." He said, sighing with relief, "I have the Crystal Heart, you just need to teleport out and we can restore it!"

Twilight looked down again, already having tried teleporting. She sniffed, but stood up. Wiping her tears, she attempted again. Using all of her remaining strength.

A cold breeze suddenly hit her face harshly. Opening her eyes, she realized that she had done it. Now that she was out, she could save the Empire.

"Spike, hand me the heart!" She said, turning to meet his gaze

(On the other side of the platform)

Sombra was making dark crystal pillars, the same crystals that he had used to cage up Twilight. He was closing off the entire top balcony of the castle, finally having his empire back. Just behind him, he could hear voices.

As he started walking to go investigate, He saw a flash of pink light. After only a second, he realized that the purple unicorn had managed to teleport out. He ran over and knocked the heart out of her magical grasp. Using his dark magic to restrain her, and block her from using her horn.

During all the commotion, Spike managed to grab the crystal heart, and now he was hiding behind a pillar. He was terrified, and had no idea what to do. Watching Twilight get pulled back by chains was enough to fill him with fear.

"There's no escaping for you now." He said, grasping her face tightly

"I wont let you get away with this Sombra."

He chuckled, letting go of Twilights face, and with a turn, he went off the find the small dragon that had stolen the heart.

"Twilight? Are you okay?" whispered the dragon, coming out from hiding behind her.

"Spike! You need to get out of here. And take the heart to Cadance!" She said, tears streaming, "You need to end this Spike, save everyone."

He nodded his head, and went off. managing to find a somewhat safe way down on Sombras crystals. Although, the evil king had seen movement in the corner of his eye. Looking over he realized what happened, and he started to chase after the small dragon.

Twilight saw him running and called out to spike.

"RUN SPIKE! GET THE HEART TO CADANCE!!"

Sombra shot out a spell and muzzled Twilight, continuing to follow Spike. Heading away from the castle and into the sky, making crystal platforms for him to go across.

All the remaining ponies down below saw this and started to panic, more than before. They were all running away to the train station. Although, crystals were falling, and if you weren't fast enough, well... You can guess what happened.

After the whole Empire had been evacuated at this point, a few stragglers taking cover in houses, and of course the occasional dead body. The only ponies left were the rest of the mane 6, Princess Cadance, and Shining Armour.

Sombra was getting annoyed, he couldn't manage to catch up with a baby dragon. Obviously his strength had depleted. But he was determined to win this time. His horn lit up with magic, as he started sending spikes of crystal after his fleeing enemy. The twists and turns were making it hard for him to catch him. But Sombra's only intent was to stop him.
