NOTES: Ok, I think I may have posted this on my old account, not too long ago, but I got logged out, I swear. But I'm not sure if that's true, I'm sorry ha-ha.
"Dearest Maren,
My first week at Hogwarts has passed by smoothly. I've only been late 5 times and got scolded a handful of times. I think this might be a new world record. Do make sure you speak highly of me to Mother and how much you miss me that way her letters aren't full of scoldings, I keep trying to remind her that I am no child but instead a grown boy.
I suppose I should tell you about my new friends as they are currently looking over my shoulder, keep in mind sister dear there is no privacy here. Or maybe that's just a boy thing. I'm unsure because I have had very minimal contact with the other sex. Sadly.
My best friend is Sirius Black, it is true the heir to the Black fortune has been sorted into Gryffindor, you probably heard rumors about it as it was for some reason written in the tabloids. He got a nasty howler for that from not only his mother but from his grandfather as well and some uncles and aunts sent some pretty nasty letters themselves. He reminds me a lot of Papa, (I can sense the way you just recoiled at that, I take great pleasure in knowing that you already fear my friends) He's 100x more of a troublemaker than I am so take pleasure in the fact you could have had him as a brother instead of me. The best brother ever.
Remus Lupin is another friend of mine. He tries to act meek and quiet, but he's Welsh so that doesn't go well for him. He reminds me of mummy so you can be thankful for him because he keeps us out of trouble. In the future when you're 80 and ready to date he is the only friend of mine that I would feel comfortable with you being with other than maybe Frank Longbottom, you remember him right? From my 9-birthday party where Uncle Charlus blew up the green room? Well, he's just as quiet now as he was back then that something? I figured that boy would be a lot like his father and be a troublemaker, nope. He gets along well with Remus, they're two in the same or whatever that saying is.
Peter Pettigrew, he's a follower and not a leader, so that's something right? It might sound horrible but frankly, there's not much I can say about him as of right now because he's still in a little bubble, though I can see we are breaking it down, so maybe my next letter can have a bit more in it about him.
Let's see is there anything I want to tell you about? No. I don't think there is. You're just going to have to figure out Hogwarts all by yourself with no advice from your big brother.
P.S. You're a wanker.
-Love,
James F. Potter
