Losing You

Best friends we were, to the heavens envy

True to each other, neither of us was ever lonely

Through the times and life's hard tides

Our bond remained unified

You were my angel, you were my queen

Life without you, the day loses its sheen

I was your hero, you knight in silver robes

Holding your hand through all of life's woes

The Gods got jealous, of a bond so sacred

Too strong and eternal, they viewed it with hatred

They waved their cruel magical spell

Fate took a turn and apart we fell

Always surprising you my dearest princess

With words and pranks, all the kindness

A cruel joke I said to my friend

A cruel trick fate played, bringing about my end

The reason for your smile, your very own sunshine

Always believed that you would forever be mine

More to you than any in this world

Without you my universe freezes cold

In this cruel frozen desert I saw you leave

The irony you did 'cause I couldn't deceive

To save our friendship just one small lie

But with you my dear, I wouldn't ever try

You seem so distant, away, so far

It hurts so badly, this unhealing scar

Like a wild bird whose spirit the cage has desist

The life in me has gone and I merely exist

My Guiding Light, through the worst of storms

What I did was so sinfully wrong!

Cradling me through the deepest of darkness

Tearfully I recall the days you treated me with fondness

The emptiness far greater that losing a former lover

My spirit died when you said "Listen Satyan, it's over"

No words uttered, no one to complain

I just stood there, drowning in the pain

Of all the fake ones that came my way

You were the only who would stay

Can't believe I'm alive when my heart has lost its beat

O God, please may this be a dream and wake me from this unbearable sleep!
