As Shahzain left, Aidah couldn't hold back her tears. She watched him disappear from view, a gnawing emptiness settling in her chest. She felt as if a part of her had been torn away, and yet, she had to return home.
Shahzain, on the other hand, was caught in a whirlwind of emotions. The family emergency in Hyderabad was demanding his attention, and his parents needed his support during this difficult time. His days were filled with concerns for his family's well-being and the responsibilities he had to shoulder. Amidst the chaos, he had inadvertently left his phone behind in his Pune residence.
On the second day of his absence, Aidah approached Aabid, one of their close friends from class, in a bid to find out more about Shahzain's situation. She didn't want to burden Aabid with her own worries but needed to know more about what was happening.
"Have you seen Shahzain?" Aidah asked, trying to keep her voice steady. "I haven't heard from him in a while, and I'm getting worried."
Aabid looked concerned and relayed what he knew about Shahzain's family emergency.
"His parents are doctors, right?" Aidah asked, her mind racing with thoughts of Shahzain and his family's well-being.
Hamza joined in, curious as well. "Yeah, Aidah, you two were close, but this seems different."
Aidah hesitated, unable to reveal the depth of her concern. "He used to study with me, and now he's just gone. I thought something might have happened to him."
Shahzain, in the midst of his family crisis, was completely unaware of Aidah's messages and calls. He was dealing with a different set of emotions, focused on supporting his family and navigating the challenges that lay ahead.
As each day passed, Aidah's messages to Shahzain grew longer, filled with her growing desperation and longing for his presence
