According to the High Septon, it was the gods' disappointment for the genocide committed within the walls of the Red Keep.
However, according to many others, the black moon rose the moment the lifeless body of Elia Martell, wrapped in a red cloak, expelled the small and prematurely born body of her daughter right in front of Ned Stark and Robert Baratheon.
The cry of the newborn echoed in the halls of the throne room, a tender cry filled with fear, as if the infant knew what had happened within those walls. Many said it was Robert who moved the cloak, others Ned; the sources are conflicting, and witnesses are few.
