I blew past Ruby and ran straight up to my room, stripping out of the clothes that felt like fire against my skin and collapsing on my bed. I couldn't breathe. My chest hurt and my head was dizzy. I needed Cam.
It took three tries to hit his contact with how shaky my hands were, but when I finally did, he answered right away. Of course he was happy as ever and I felt so guilty to bother his happy mood.
"Hey, Jay Jay, what's up?" He asked, giggling at something on his side of the line.
"I-I need you. Cam I need you..." I cried harder, dropping my phone as I tried everything to calm myself but failed.
"Jayden? What happened? Are you ok? Talk to me." I focused on the shuffling on his end of the phone.
"Come. Please come..." I couldn't breathe. I needed to breathe to calm down but nothing was working. Not even my teddy was working as I hugged him.
"We're coming, Jay. I don't know what happened, you need to give me something to I can help you."
"Kay-Kayden yelled. At me. I-I-I..."
"Ok, it's ok. Deep breaths, Jay. Can you pack a bag? You can come stay with us for a little while." I nodded my head before realizing he couldn't see me.
"Ok."
"We'll be there in ten minutes ok? I'm going to hang up but call me if you need me again. I love you, Jay."
"Love y-you, Cam." I whimpered before the called died off. I tried so hard to get up and move but my body felt cold and numb. My arms were so heavy and it hurt to hold my head up.
I hugged my teddy close and cried. I cried because I was hurting. I cried because I couldn't move. I cried because I was helpless. I cried because I was alone. I just cried and cried and cried until my door opened and Cam rushed in with Henry following behind him.
"Oh, Jay..." He frowned, picking me up from where I laid on my side and hugging me. He was so comforting and familiar, it helped me a little bit. "Did you pack a bag?"
"I-I... No..." My lungs felt so tight again. I didn't listen again. So bad. Such a bad boy, not listening.
"It's alright, We'll pack one for you. Just hug Honey Bear and try to breathe for me."
I closed my eyes and it felt like seconds before Cam was rubbing my shoulder, telling me to open my eyes. I looked up as he gave me a sad smile and pointed to Henry.
"Can Henry carry you out? I promise he'll be very gentle."
"My legs..." I sniffed, looking up at my best friend. "They don't work."
"I know, Jay. It's ok. Let Henry carry you and you can come and sleep at our house."
I nodded and tried to relax as Henry picked me up, forcing me to lay my head against his shoulder only to be scolded by Cam for not being gentle. He made sure my Honey Bear was tucked into my arms and rubbed my back as I cried and they brought me out to the truck.
Kayden yelled at me. He yelled at me and expected it to just be ok when he apologized. He knew I couldn't be yelled at. He saw me when Gregory at the club yelled at me and he still did it anyways. He deserved what I said. I didn't need someone who was just like the monsters who hurt me.
It was quiet the whole way to the apartment building and even on the way up. Cam carried my bag while Henry carried me and rubbed my back. I understood now why Cam said he was nice. He was very good at calming me down. He must have had a lot of practice with Cam.
"Can you talk to us? What happened and why did Kayden yell at you?" Cam asked as Henry set me down on the couch and wrapped a soft blanket around my shoulders. How did he know I was cold?
