My head spun as a group of what looked like ghouls ran into the room. All had horns and tails with a spade tip making them look even more demonic than I thought. They were dark, basically black.
Their loud voices held questions but I couldn't even understand what they were asking. Papa stood in between me and the group. My heart beating in my ears as my breath grew shorter with each dart of my eyes. Everything was so overwhelming, the loud echo of their voices, the heavy footsteps of their boots, and just them being there.
"Calm down everyone!" Papa yelled over the ghouls. A few grew silent but one stood out. They had all gathered in a half circle around Papa and me. I used Papa's body as my shield, finding the most comfort in him at the moment.
The ghoul that stood out the most was a smaller looking one but seemed to hold just as a high ego type stance as the tall ghoul in the back. "Is that a new play thing? Can I have the first go?" Its lust filled voice was the only thing my ears heard. A red forked tongue clear as he spoke to me. His tail swished wildly at the sight of me.
I knew what he meant by play thing and I already regretted coming here. I didn't want to stay nor did the answers to my questions matter so much now. I just wanted to go home and process everything that had just happened.
"You touch her and I send you back to Lucifer." A familiar voice echoed and a pair of footsteps followed. It was the ghoul that was in my apartment and the voice of Sodo. Anger filled the tone as the room became hot.
Then I saw him, that ghoul. He moved quickly and with purpose as his tail moved with each step he took. His head slightly down showing off his horns and those blood filled red eyes. As we made eye contact that same pulling feeling returned. Again I felt drawn to him and my foot took a step out before I stopped myself, remembering where I was.
"Sodo," Almost a scolding voice came from Papa. Sodo pushed through the ghouls as he headed straight for me. "You explain to her, and don't scare her." Papa, the only shield between me and the group of ghouls, moved out of the way for Sodo. I gulped back a fear at the sight of Sodo up close.
"Come," He demanded and grabbed my hand before I could object. His hand was warm to the touch. In my shocked state I just let him drag me off and out of the library and down the hall once more. The only thing being our footsteps. He said nothing and I couldn't cough up the words. I wasn't sure why but I felt even better with Sodo being here with me than Papa, even though he was a litterale ghoul.
A side door was pushed open and I was hit with the cool air of the night. Darkness as far as the eye could see with the exception of trees creating a darker shadow in the night. Even with the cold of the night Sodo's hand in mine kept warm like he was a heater of some sort.
Finally I snapped out of my frozen fearful stage. "Wait," I stopped causing Sodo to let go of my hand before quickly halting. "What the fuck is going on? Are you a devil? Who the fuck is Papa?" I began to spitfire question after question. After each question my mind only came up with more. "I will tell you but first you have to follow me." Sodo demanded and grabbed my hand once more, this time holding tighter. I was tugged along into the woods this time down a deer path.
Within a few seconds a small clearing in the woods appeared. A dark metal gazebo lit by candles sat in the middle. Dark roses surround it with hedges around those. It was truly a beautiful sight but I couldn't care less about it. I just wanted answers.
"Now," Sodo cleared his throat. The both of us stand in the gazebo facing the other. My body chilled to the touch as I had lost the warmth of his hand. "Explain everything." I was the one demanding now.
"I am a ghoul." Sodo started. He seemed to be treading lightly on the subject. "I know about ghouls and I know about the whole soulmate shit and all of that. Explain my missing shit first." A dominance sprouted in me as I demanded answers to my own questions. I had come to terms with the fact ghouls and a Papa existed but I was more concerned about why Sodo was snooping around my apartment.
