Should Jungkook call this a nightmare?

With great difficulty, he had managed to console his heart, convincing himself that everything would be fine—that nothing would happen to his husband. But this sudden onslaught of reality jolted him from his illusion,

forcing him to face the harsh truth. Now, he understood why people said that too much happiness often precedes deeper sorrow,
leaving behind an emptiness that no one can fill.

Helplessness.

It wasn’t just a feeling—he was truly living in it. He glanced at Taehyung, who was smiling at him from the hospital bed, oblivious to the gravity of the situation.

"Your husband's heart condition is serious," the doctor began, his tone clinical but direct. "He has congenital holes in his heart, which are compromising its ability to function efficiently, especially under stress.

The medication he’s been taking—without proper medical guidance—has exacerbated his symptoms, worsening his breathing issues instead of alleviating them."

Jungkook felt his heart stop at those words, his mind scrambling to process them. The doctor continued, unrelenting.

"It's important to say that what he’s been experiencing wasn’t merely panic attacks. His heart now requires immediate and specialized care. I need to conduct further tests to determine the current state of his condition.”

He hesitated briefly before delivering the next blow. “I’m sorry to inform you, Mr. Kim, but this issue has likely been developing for some time. You should have sought medical attention earlier, before his condition deteriorated to this point."

Jungkook’s eyes widened in disbelief, his tears flowing silently. He felt paralyzed, rooted to the spot as the doctor continued.

"Congenital heart defects like these are often hereditary—either from his mother or another close relative. They can also be triggered by factors such as smoking during pregnancy,

although I don’t want to delve too deep into causes right now. Our priority should be addressing how we can manage and improve his condition moving forward."

The doctor paused, noticing Jungkook’s expression still frozen in shock. He softened slightly, though his tone remained firm. "Are you listening, Mr. Kim? I know this is devastating, but please don’t fall apart. For your husband’s sake, you need to stay strong."

Jungkook blinked, his tearful gaze finally meeting the doctor's. He was struggling to comprehend the gravity of it all, but he nodded weakly.

"For now," the doctor continued, "I’ll evaluate the extent of the damage. If we find that the condition is in an advanced stage, we’ll have to consider surgical intervention.

It’s surprising that neither Taehyung nor his parents noticed this earlier—perhaps the symptoms weren’t pronounced enough until now. But please, take special care of his diet and mental health."

Jungkook wiped his tear-streaked cheeks, though they were quickly dampened again by fresh ones. He managed to choke out a response, his voice barely above a whisper.

"I-I will...," he stammered, his words almost incoherent through the sobs. The doctor gave him a look of sympathy.

"The nurse will provide you with a diet plan," the doctor added, "and I’ll consult with my colleagues on the best course of action moving forward."

"D-doctor... will h-he be okay?" Jungkook’s voice trembled with hope, but that hope was crushed by the doctor's pragmatic response.

"Mr. Kim, I'm not the kind of doctor who offers false reassurances. I believe in giving you the truth, no matter how hard it is. Stay strong—for yourself and for him. His recovery will depend not just on medical intervention, but on his own willpower and strength."
