Sunlight gently hit Jungkook’s face, casting a soft yellow glow on his milky skin. He squinted, his hand rubbing the back of the older man lying on him. It was becoming harder to move with the weight pressing down on him.

“Tae, wake up. We have to get to school too,” he said, his eyes now fully open. Taehyung didn’t budge, offering no response.

Jungkook sighed, knowing it was pointless. He waited for the alarm, as Taehyung wouldn’t wake until the device screamed at them. As if on cue, the alarm blared within seconds,

Taehyung groaned at the high-pitched noise. Jungkook giggled at his husband’s irritated expression as Taehyung pouted but finally rolled out of his comfortable position, moving closer to Jungkook.

Of course, for a morning kiss.

Taehyung’s rough lips captured Jungkook’s slightly dry ones, sucking eagerly on his lower lip. Jungkook responded in kind, and soon enough, the kiss grew heated. They kissed passionately, hungry for each other from the moment the day began...

Let’s leave them here. They spent a long time making out before heading downstairs, ready for the day ahead...

“I made this for you,” Suhi said, placing a plate of strawberry pancakes in front of Taehyung, who looked at her nervously. He was already full, but this girl kept adding more and more to his plate.

“I can’t eat anymore, Suhi, I’m already stuffed,” Taehyung admitted, and it was true. After a smoothie, four donuts, and buttered toast, anyone would be. But how was he going to make her understand that his stomach was literally at its limit?

He glanced at Jungkook, who was eyeing Suhi with a cold stare. Taehyung gulped at his husband's face; it was both hot and terrifying at the same time. “Kim Taehyung, this is not the time to think about things like that,” he scolded himself.

“Suhi, he’s eaten enough. Don’t force him anymore; it could affect his health. We wouldn’t want that, would we?” Jungkook said, his tone cool and authoritative.

Suhi paused, halfway through placing another cupcake on Taehyung’s plate. She thought for a moment and nodded, agreeing with Jungkook’s point.

“Anyway, how are you, Taehyung? Is your health better now?” she asked with genuine concern. Taehyung nodded and smiled. He appreciated everyone’s efforts to care for him, but he knew when to set boundaries.

“Let’s go, Tae, we’re running late,” Jungkook said, helping Taehyung into his coat. In no time, they both left. Suhi watched their retreating figures.

“There’s still time,” Jiyeh said quietly, stepping into the room. “Grab the sand before it slips through your fingers.”

Suhi sighed, her heart heavy. “But no matter how hard I try, he’ll never notice me,” she said, tears brimming in her eyes.

“Don’t give up. You’re a good girl. You deserve him,” Jiyeh replied sweetly, fueling Suhi’s fading hope.

“Really?” Suhi asked, and Jiyeh nodded. It was easy to manipulate her, after all.

At school, Jungkook followed Taehyung into his office.

“Remember, we have a doctor’s appointment today,” Jungkook reminded, wrapping his arms around Taehyung’s neck, who responded by pulling him closer with a firm hand on his waist.

“I remember, love. I’ll finish work early today,” Taehyung said, kissing both of Jungkook’s cheeks.

“Okay, then. I’m going now,” Jungkook said before hugging him tightly and planting a soft kiss on his forehead. Taehyung nodded, and they parted ways reluctantly.

Skipping to lunchtime, the day had been overwhelming for Jungkook. He had to answer numerous questions about him and Taehyung, but he handled it all patiently, making sure to clear up any misconceptions.

"Umm, not now,” Jungkook stopped Taehyung from unbuttoning his shirt. Sitting on his lap, they had just finished lunch, and Taehyung was eager for his dessert.

“Please,” Taehyung pleaded, giving him puppy eyes, but Jungkook didn’t budge.

“No, hubby. Remember, we have a doctor’s appointment?” Jungkook reminded him.

“Hmph, fine. But I won’t leave you alone tonight,” Taehyung huffed, biting Jungkook’s cheek playfully but not hard enough to leave marks.

“I know,” Jungkook smiled, kissing the man’s head a few times. They spent another 10 minutes together before heading back to work.

In the evening, they arrived at the doctor’s office.

“What are the symptoms?” the cardiologist asked, looking at Taehyung, who sat beside his husband.

“Um… whenever I’m stressed, even a little, I start to feel suffocated, like I’m having a panic attack—”

“Shortness of breath?” the doctor suggested, helping him find the right words.

“Yes, and it blows my mind. On top of that, my chest hurts so much.”

“Have you consulted any other doctor about this before?”

“No, but I used to take supplements for the chest pain. They helped reduce the pain a bit.”

“I assume those weren’t prescribed,” the doctor said, and Taehyung nodded while Jungkook shot him a disapproving look. Who does that?

“How long has this been happening?” the doctor asked.

“I started noticing the shortness of breath when I was 16, but it wasn’t severe back then. As I grew older, every new challenge in my life left me overwhelmed. It wasn’t excitement like others felt, but a sense of being overwhelmed by everything,” Taehyung explained.

“I started having these panic attacks regularly, but I didn’t tell anyone because they’d just say I was overthinking. But I wasn’t. It’s just how my mind reacted to everything. The worst part was the chest pain. That’s when I started taking supplements.”

“Why didn’t you see a doctor?” Jungkook’s concern was evident in his voice, though he tried not to let fear take over.

“I thought it wasn’t that important, because she—” Taehyung stopped himself mid-sentence.

“Mr. Kim, it’s crucial to understand that this is important. Taking unprescribed supplements is dangerous, and considering how long you’ve been taking them, I’m certain they’ve had side effects.”

Taehyung said nothing, staring at his lap. He couldn’t bring himself to meet Jungkook’s gaze, knowing how worried he must be.

“How old are you now?” the doctor asked.

“Twenty-nine,” Jungkook answered for him, finally tearing his eyes away from Taehyung.

The doctor sighed and took his stethoscope to check Taehyung’s heartbeat and examined his eyes.

“I’ll schedule some tests. Please cooperate with the examiner. It will take about a day, and you can come back tomorrow.”

“Okay,” Jungkook replied, and they both left the office.

“Mr. Kim, for your peace of mind, I ran two additional tests, and the result remains the same. Your husband has congenital heart disease. I know this is hard to accept, but you need to believe us.”
