It has been 10 years since the day my younger brother, Cid Kagenō, was born.

Today, many noblemen from nearby territories were present at the Kagenō mansion.

It was a custom every nobleman, whose child aspires to become a dark knight, has to follow in Midgard kingdom. Dark knights are different from normal soldiers, they use magic to enhance their bodies and weapons during combat. When a noble's child turns ten, they have to hold an event and send invitations to other nobles, who hold the same or lower rank than themselves, and sometimes, if possible, higher. The nobleman's child then has to showcase their strength in front of the nobleman present in the event. It was a custom that showed that the kingdom would be safe in the hands of the next generation.

Kagenō, the family I was born into, was also one of the noble families affiliated with the Midgard kingdom. They hold the title of baron, the lowest possible rank of nobility. The members of the Kagenō family have trained to become dark knights for generations. As the rising star of our family in this generation, Cid has been appending his days as an average dark knight apprentice...

...or at least that was the impression everyone would have about Cid after taking one look at him. He might appear to be a naïve and harmless citizen of human society, but you can find him anywhere around the globe. But that's just how he should like to present himself in front of other people. He held a significant talent when it comes to manipulating other people's opinion of himself. And that was one of the reasons he was able to hide his real potential from almost everyone and it seems like he will continue to do so in the upcoming future.

But! it was just a persona he liked to show in front of everyone around him as Cid Kagenō.

There was something well hidden behind his persona of a harmless and good-for-nothing baron's son. He was able to foul almost everyone around him with this persona and hide his true strength from everyone around him.

He should be an average, or maybe below average, night apprentice in training or that was the impression everyone has of him, but in truth, he should be able to stand toe to toe with some of the best dark knights at the mare age of 10, or maybe even overpower them in raw magic power.

Even Claire, who has been spending a lot of time with Cid and Father, who was his training instructor doesn't know about Cid's actual strength and control over magic.

But it was an entirely different story when it came to some like me and Mother, who has been keeping an eye on me since my birth. He couldn't hide many things from the both of us.

Of course, I was the first person to know about Cid's actual capabilities. It was around the time when Cid turned four years old, that he started to sneak out of the mention in the middle of the night. He did it so that he could train while keeping it a secret from everyone.

Mother was also able to find out about his night outings within a few weeks. She also knows that both of us are abnormal children. She was also the one who started to nurture our talent from an early year. She had also tried to teach Cid, too.

He had shown an interest in almost everything she tried to teach him in the beginning but he would always lose interest in them as soon as he could understand those topics to some extent. Mother constantly has to bring new things to teach him as he seems to lost interest in pretty much everything. But there was still a story that he never gets tired of even after hearing it again and again from Mother.

It was a fairy tale about three heroes who defeated the demon Diablo.

He wasn't fascinated by the three heroes, who had risked their lives to save the world from destruction a thousand years ago, nor was he interested in the demon Diablo, who was so powerful that it almost brought the end of the world singlehandedly.
