Entry for @WattpadFairytales Whispers of Autumn contest.

15 verses.

Once fell the leaves and so the Wolf howled
The loss of Dancer felt to the deepest roots
None but the Hunter gazed upon her dying face
But the Wolf knew and cried all the same.
Then the trees withered, were dusted with white
And the Wolf grew white with grief as if it were age
But the last tear he shed melted the blanket of white
Reached the dark soil so the cycle began anew.
From the tear on the earth burst a sapling, pink in hue
And it slowly grew as the sun warmed all
And when finally it bloomed Dancer rose
And joyfully skipped with the Wolf through a spring made new
But the Hunter will return and the Wolf will try to stop him
And the wind and the leaves and the trees know that time is quickly coming.
