Letting out a sigh, Naruto laid his head back on the head rest as his right hand pushed the 'engine' button on the dash. His ocean blue eyes closed as his eyebrows furrowed. He was starting to feel overwhelmed.
'Why did you do that, Naruto?' He thought back to when he grabbed a cigarette from the raven. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't seem to let the Uchiha go. Even though he had spit those vicious words out a few hours ago, he was still drawn to Sasuke.
"AHH!" Naruto huffed out as he slammed his head on the steering wheel. He couldn't get the dejected look on Sasuke's face out of his head. Every time he thought about it, which was the whole ride home, he felt his heart ache deep within his chest.
Finally getting out of the car, Naruto slowly sauntered up the steps towards his own apartment. Glancing over at the door next to his, he bit his bottom lip in frustration. Something inside of him wanted to talk to Sasuke. To apologize to him.
In deep thought, Naruto grabbed hold of the ring on his necklace, as if trying to bring himself back to reality.
"No. I have nothing to apologize for. I did nothing wrong." He mumbled to himself as he then leaned his forehead on the door.
'You said you hated him' his own thoughts intruded.
"I do hate him!" Naruto yelled out loud, to no one.
"Well.. I.. I want to hate him" he argued with himself.
"No. I do hate him. That's final. He's no longer part of my life and that's that!"
"But.. he looked so hurt.."
"No! What he did was way worse"
Naruto continued to argue with himself, in denial about the truth. He knew deep within himself, that there was no way he could hate Sasuke, ever. He had given Sasuke every piece of himself and even to this day, he didn't actually regret it.
"Ugh! Just shut up!" Naruto barked out in frustration as he angrily dug into his pocket for his own keys.
"You're going to wake the complex"
Naruto flinched at the voice behind him, jerking his hands into the air, sending his keys flying backward, over the railing, landing in the bushes with a stream of rustling on the way down.
"You gotta be kidding me" Naruto pouted as his hands dropped to his sides and he let out a defeated sigh. Digging into his other pocket, he pulled out his phone, only to find that it had died.
'How long did I sit in the car?' He wondered as he noticed it had to have been pretty late by now. Turning around, he avoided eye contact as he aggressively shoved keys into the chest in front of him.
"This is your fault" he mumbled as he made his way to the stairs.
"My fault?" Sasuke scoffed as he now gripped the keys tightly. Biting his tongue, he took a deep breath and followed.
"Then let me help you" he said a little more sarcastically then he meant to.
"Piss off" Naruto waved his hand in the air as he descended down the steps.
"What the fuck is your problem?" Sasuke bit out.
Naruto abruptly stopped causing Sasuke to almost crash into him.
"What's my problem?" Naruto chuckled darkly. "You! You are my problem!" He turned around, pointing his finger in Sasuke's face.
Slapping the hand away, Sasuke tried to control his temper. Why things always turned out like this, he couldn't figure out. All he wanted to do was grab his keys, tell Naruto that his bike would be fixed in the morning, and go to bed. Minimal conversation and interaction.
