What do you hear?
A whispered fairytale, so queer.
Princess to princess and crown to crown.
In a village small, a town.
What do you hear?
In a land so far, yet so near.
Where colourful leaves descend with grace;
where lads and lasses are dressed in lace.
What do you hear?
When you walk down the path of deer.
Inhaling the enchanting scent of chestnuts,
You don't have the guts.
What do you hear
The whispered love of a princess sincere.
Bowed to the ground in loyalty
for the hand of royalty.
What do you hear?
On that day in a forgotten year.
When you bowed down your head
and touched the ground to wed.
***
What do you hear?
The sounds of war, too severe.
Where armies and worlds collide
for the hand of the precious bride.
What do you hear?
The broken tree, where monsters appear.
A battleground cleared by knights
all through the darkness of the moonless nights.
What do you hear?
A cry in the wind, a jot of fear.
Will this be the end, today?
My Love, keep the darkness at bay.
What do you hear?
Don't you dare sneer.
Look down on me in vain.
I bear this burden alone, this chain.
What do you hear?
A silent drop, a fallen tear.
The lost blood of a loved one dear.
In this world that lost its cheer.
What do you hear?
When you close your eyes, and the world will disappear.
Your eyes gazing in mine,
then where our worlds align.

Author's note:
So this got a lot darker a lot faster than planned. Hopefully it was still enough in the fairytale style to qualify.
