Dear heja: Happy bday

I present to you a compilation of multiple deaf-heja related (/nm) canon stories.

ATM of writing I'll see if angst is going to make an appearance or not, idk

Anathea's POV:

Did you forget to charge them? I wrote down. Heja nodded. I sighed softly. School wouldn't be over in.. what, 5 hours? As far as I knew no one but Heja himself knew sign language.

The first hour or so everything went alright. Everybody (including the teachers) weren't very fond of us as a duo anyways so as long as we ignored them they ignored us back. Until recess. Heja went away to go to the bathroom, leaving me alone.

I sat on a bench somewhere outside and secluded, eating my food and waiting for Heja to come back. The food tasted like shit but I knew hunger would devour me if I did not eat it so I just forced myself to swallow. I got lost in my thoughts, wondering why Heja took so long to come back.

"Hey there." I snapped up, but in the motion of doing so I realized it wasn't Heja's voice. I froze. "What do you want?" "Oh nothing." The boy said as he walked towards me. His gaze was fixed on Heja's bag, which she left with me to guard.

"Go away then." I said. "Nah." Was his answer as he kneeled down and grabbed for Heja's bag, as Heja wasn't present. "Stop that!" I said as I took the bag and placed it behind me. The boy stood up in front of me. "Or what?" I stood up now as well, being a nice 3 inches taller and looking down at the boy. "You really think your length can impress me? We all know you're a weakling and you're just relying on your freak friend when dealing with us."

"I.." "I what?" I got cut off. "I'd better get the hell out of here if I were you." A voice answered from behind. I looked to who was standing behind the boy and thank the gods (back then god), it was Heja. "Or wha-" The boy got cut off by a punch in the gut. He quickly scurried away, screaming something like: "She hit me! She hit me!"

I turned to Heja. "Thanks." I said. Looking at his confusion I quickly wrote it down. Heja smiled. "You're welcome." Heja sat down next to me. "Or well, I was more guarding my backpack." Heja joked. I laughed with her, having to truly convince myself it was a joke and that Heja did not value a backpack over me. She'd never.

A couple minutes later recess ended. As we walked back in class the boy Heja punched earlier stared us down, but we ignored it. "Oh come on, don't do that." The boy said. I sat down on my place next to Heja and looked outside. The sun was shining. Brightly. "Jeez, Thea, how the fuck do you survive with long sleeves? It's like 29 degrees outside." I shrugged it off, smiling.

As the teacher started beginning her lesson Heja passed me a note. It read: You know, I should teach you sign language for moments like these.

Anathea's POV:

Ever since Heja passed me that note she started teaching me sign language. Yes, my grades slipped from C's to C-'s, but honestly if I told no one about it no one would also start about it (that's like my no.1 rule of life) and it wouldn't be a problem. Dad would've probably either gotten really mad or he just wouldn't care at all. Not wanting to risk it, I stayed silent about the entire thing. We all knew I wouldn't go to this school for the next grade so I could start over at a new one anyways.

To be honest, knowing sign language (as good as I did back then, though) helped Heja and me out in more than one occasion. Oh, detention where you're not allowed to talk? Fill in the rest. I'll just say it has happened... not just a few times, heh.
