The Aftermath
Heja tells us through the phone that the headquarters is the Plaza Hotel in Central Park. Summoning some Camp Pegasi we fly there, the sun rising in the east.
We get into an elevator to the top floors. As soon as we arrive I first get hit by the smell of blood and sweat, then get pulled in a hug by Heja, tears in her eyes. "I heard about a Demeter kid being bitten by a dog.. I thought it was you and.. and.."
Heja's face buries in my shoulder. Normally I hate touch, and normally Heja's aware of it but I'm fine with it this time. "Shh.." I say. "I'm okay. I just have bruises and a few cuts."
"Your fricking side is open!" Katie says as she helps Miranda lay down on one of the benches. Sara's already running towards the two, her hands glowing gold.
Heja lets go of the hug, inspecting me. "Shut up about your 'few bruises and cuts', your sister's right!" She says. She looks around. I don't need our telepathical link to know that she's searching for a healer. None are available at the moment, so Heja just leads me to a bench close to my siblings.
I sit down, looking at my side. My orange camp-shirt isn't really orange anymore, nor complete. My jeans and shirt are couple tints lighter from the monster dust and completely ragged from my armor and the monster attacks.
Instead of focusing on my wounds I look at Miranda again. Her injury is way more severe, and I can't help but watch with an exponentially growing amount of worry at her. Sara's busy treating her, and thankfully I can see the look of relief on my sister's face as the pain is seeming to fade. "I told you you'd be fine." I whisper softly, even though Miranda can't hear it anyways.
When Miranda's somewhat stable Sara goes towards me. "Gods, what happened to you?" Sara asks me.
"Got charged by two monsters at the same time." I say. "I was too slow in raising my shield, I should've seen it coming earlier."
"Shush." Sara says. "You did great. Rumors are going around that your tunnel turned into the fricking Amazon rainforest."
I smile. At camp rumors spread like fire. Here they apparently do as well. "We did something along the lines of that, yea." I say.
Katie then stands up. "I need an update. Which counselors are present, which aren't?" She asks.
"Connor is present. Silena and Silke's here. Annabeth is on the terrace, she's been hit by an poisonous knife. Percy's there as well. We got the counselors of Hephaestus and Dio."
"And Michael?" I ask, noticing how Sara's skipping over her own counselor. The light dies from her eyes.
"We lost him when the Williamsburg bridge collapsed."
I don't know how that event happened, but I'm not going to ask for it. "He's dead." Sara says. "And Nicola.." Her voice breaks. I immediately get up to try and comfort her but she pushes me down. "Rest." She says, wiping her tears. She takes a deep breath as a form of recovery.
Sara's hands glow gold as they go over my side, healing the worst parts. "Travis and a couple of Hermes and Apollo campers are raiding a drugstore nearby to get medical supplies; we've already run out of it."
That doesn't sound very good.
"We have lookouts on each of the bridges and tunnels. Kronos' army is stronger at night, so we're not expecting them to attack until sunset."
Silena then storms from the terrace where Annabeth lies. "Silena!" Silke says. "What're you doing?"
"I'm going to get Clarisse! I'll have to do something good." Silena answers, ignoring the looks from her siblings.
