The last bell finally rings and the students leave the classroom laughing and telling me to have a good day. I had only a couple rude students but that's okay, though I'm covered from my elbows down to my hands in paint and even some on my face, today was a wonderful day. It was now finally time for lunch.
I walk over to my sink across from my desk and rinse off as much of the paint off as I can, some still staining but it will buff. I quickly dry my hands. All of a sudden, I hear a light knock on my classroom door.
I look over and see a tall brunette, she seemed about 5'8 or 5'9. She had a red and white striped shirt on and bell bottom light blue jeans. Her hair was completely straight and she seemed to be my age.
"Hello! You must be the new art teacher, Ms Alcott! I'm Ms. Summers, the history teacher! But you can just call me Delilah if you would like!" She says super cheerfully, making me smile. "Aww! Well I'm Clementine! Nice to meet you Delilah!" I say just as cheerful back. She lets out a light laugh, "Well I'll let you enjoy your first lunch! I just wanted to stop by, we should get a bite to eat sometime and talk!" She says as she leans against the doorway with a hand on her hip. "Sounds good! Let me know a date!" I say, giving her a thumbs up. She gives me one back before waving goodbye as she walks out. I wave back before making my way to my lunch box.
"Shoot... I forgot a spoon.." I say to myself. Before I leave, I try to think of where the cafeteria is, but failing. "Maybe Ombra will know.." I say to myself once again. I begin to make my way to the dark classroom next door. As I walk in, I knock.
"Ms Brennen?" I say softly, looking around but not seeing her anywhere. "Hmm.." I say as I start to head out. I soon stop, seeing the decoration closet door open. I walk over to look inside but as I take my last step, I trip and begin to fall down into the decorations. I let out a yelp as I fall, landing into a pile of fake pumpkins, garland, etc. I try to move but I end up tangled in the garland. Some wrapped around my thigh, my ankle, arms, neck. Suddenly I hear rushing footsteps of heels. I look up to see a panicked look on Ombra's face, but soon move to a smirk.
"A nosey one hm? If you wanted a peek, you could've asked." She says with a giggle as she gets onto her knees and begins untangling my arms first from the garland. I try to talk but all I can let out is embarrassed stutters as she untangles the garland from my thigh. I can already feel my face beet red.
"And... done dear. You're free, what were you needing? I heard you say my name." She says smiling, now sitting on her knees, facing me, our knees touching. "W-well..." I stutter out. "I don't know where the cafeteria is and I need a spoon so I can eat." I say avoiding eye contact with her. I can tell she notices I'm nervous because she lets out one of her beautiful giggles. "Alright! I escort you there." She says with a smile and gets up, putting out a hand to help me up onto my feet as well. I slowly take it as she gently helps me up. Her hands were the softest hands I've ever felt. I could already feel the nerves making their way back to me. Like she noticed, she doesn't let go but instead we stand there as she looks at me, her thumb rubbing the top of my hand.
"Hey.. you're acting off, I know I haven't known you too long but as your.. friend, I'm worried." Ombra says. Suddenly, it feels like I just got punched in the stomach. Why did her saying friend bother me? There is no way I like her already, I can't.
"Yeah..! I'm good! Just nerves high from when I fell." I say, trying to act normal. I quickly pull my hand from hers, regretting it almost immediately, noticing a faint hint of disappointment grow onto her face. I quickly brush off my skirt and fix my hair.
"Now, where is the cafeteria?" I ask her, tilting my head to the side in questioning. "Ah right, this way." She says calmly. She leads me towards the cafeteria full of loud children. I walk up to the container of plastic silverware and grab a spoon, then walk back to her with a smile.
"Thank you madam." I say in a joking tone with a light laugh. She lets out a quiet laugh, that's when I notice, she was biting her inner lip. Was she nervous? Should I have not said that? Oh no. I'm overthinking.
As the thoughts flood my head, I quickly walk past her and back to my classroom to eat my lunch. After about fifteen minutes pass, the bell rings. Luckily I had just a prep period and a small class of five for last period. I go ahead and put my lunch away and begin working on the next step for an assignment we are working on for 2nd and 4th period.

.Two hours passes and it's finally 3:30pm. The last bell rings, sending my students, along with the others, off to the buses and cars to go home. This means that I finally can get ready to go home. I quickly pack my things up into my bag, tidying up a couple things, then heading out of my classroom, locking the door behind me. As I back up from my door, I bump into someone, my head hitting their chest, earning a small laugh from the mysterious person. I knew that laugh from anywhere
Ombra.
I quickly turn around and see a beautiful smile stretched across her face, her head lifted up so I wouldn't hit her face but her chest instead. I turn beet red.
"I'm so sorry! I didn't realize you were behind me!" I say, slightly stuttering. She lays a cold hand on my shoulder, sending shivers down my spine. Her hands... they felt so good on me. It's like I needed her touch. I'm head over heels for this woman.
"Don't worry about it dear! I wanted to ask you if you wanted to get lunch like... the 1st of September?" She asked me, looking straight into my eyes, sending me into another shiver. I wish this was a date.. but there is no way someone as beautiful as her would like me, especially this early. I don't even know if she likes girls...
"I'd love too!" I say with a smile. She smiles back and waves goodbye. I do the same and finally make my way to my car, climbing in, starting it, then driving home. Once I get home, I go and greet Sage and my rats. I earn a meow from her, making me laugh a little. Once I sit my stuff down and organize things, I begin doing some things around the house, along with cooking dinner. By the time I get everything done, hours have passed and I have ate my dinner, which was just some quick spaghetti I made, the clock was hitting 10.
"Wow.. that went by fast." I say as I lay down in bed, sleeping in nothing but green underwear. As my eyes begin to slowly fall shut as I'm cuddled against Sage, all I could think of was the beautiful woman I'd now get to be friends with and work with. I'm so happy with how things are going for me so far. What could possibly go wrong?
