SOMETHING IN THE RAIN

Chapter I

i. just a normal rainy day

9 : 59 P.M. | March 3, 2022

That Friday night.

'Universe, hindi pa tapos yung enactus paper ko. Bakit kukunin niyo na ako agad?'

THAT'S THE ONLY THING that Cloud has been thinking as she was watching the lightning strikes the railway, kung saan papunta ang tren na sinasakyan niya ngayon. Agad na pinunasan ni Cloud ang luha na pilit tumutulo sa pisngi niya. She has been crying for quite a while now, dahil sa na-corrupt na files na dapat ay ipapasa niya mamayang alas diyes sa prof niya. And yet, here's the universe which seems to have other plans for her.

Panic surges through the passengers of the train as the emergency alarm echoes inside the whole train. Nalagutan din si Cloud nang hininga. 'Kukunin na ba ako ni Lord?'

Agad na ibinaling ni Cloud ang tingin sa mga kasamahan niya sa loob ng tren. Kitang kita ang kaba na nakapinta sa mga mukha ng mga ito dahil halos lahat sila ay hindi alam ang dapat gawin para makatakas sa posibleng sitwasyon na maaaring makaharap nila sa mga susunod na minuto.

Everyone started screaming in fear as they witnessed the other side of the overpass crumble after the lightning hit the railway. Cloud felt a hand gripping her left arm tightly. She quickly turned her head only to see Kyno, one of the passengers she just met a while ago.

"Hawak ka lang sa'kin." He said reassuringly. Cloud nodded nervously. Ano pa nga ba ang magagawa niya kung checkmate na sila. There's nothing they could do but to pray — to God... to the universe... to whoever that could help them.

And, perhaps pray for a miracle to happen.

Like an afterthought, in an instant, the train they were on plummeted down under the overpass.

And, everyone was falling with nothing to hold onto.

Memories from her childhood, to her teenage angst, her parents and her friends flashed through Cloud's mind like a whirlwind. She couldn't believe she would leave them just like that... without even saying her goodbyes.

Cloud couldn't believe that this was her end. A single tear dropped from her right eye as she witnessed her own doom in seconds now. Cloud could only close her eyes, as she accepted what was about to happen.
