Chapter 3

"Sad Girl"

I'd love to say that things have gotten better from where they were, but that would be a lie. I can still hear a faint voice in the back of my mind telling me to do it. From the moment I stepped foot in this town my life started falling down hill, to be frank it's more like a cliff that I'll never be able to get back up from.

You've tried so hard to help me but from what I've seen and felt I know that nothing can save me or this town.

Love, Venna

Y/N stared at the note that was left on her desk with horror piercing through her veins.

'Oh my god- shit.' She thought. It was only her second week and someone had already left a suicide note on her desk.Y/N thought of Venna as a lovely girl. Even if she was only 17 her mind was sharp as a freshly sharpened knife, her life and mood seemed to be on the up-heel.

Y/N ran down to her car- her phone was already ringing in her hand. Lacy the secretary rose her hand greeting the panicked girl. "Y/N-." She was cut off by a slamming door. She shrugged and looked back down to her computer.

Her car's engine roared as Y/N started the car. Venna's parents were already being called. Ring- ring. The car sped out of the parking lot, its tires screeching at the sudden movement. Ring ring ring. Y/N's body pumped with adrenaline, her heart pounded in her rib cage. Ring...

No answer. Y/N grabbed her phone, and placed it on her steering wheel. She tried her hardest to keep her eyes on the road while she typed 9, then 1, and then another 1.

It rang for a few seconds before someone picked it up. "9-1-1 what's your emergency?" Y/N took a deep breath, and explained the whole situation to the lady on the other side of the phone. "Ma'am where are you going right now?" The car took a sharp turn into a small neighborhood. "Her house- it was on her patient file." The operator sighed. "Do not go into that house- it could be considered a crime scene."

Y/N's mind rambled as she pulled into the driveway of Venna's house. Before she could respond a blood curdling scream filled Y/N's ears like nails scratching a chalkboard.

"She needs help- please send someone soon." Y/N's finger reached and clicked the red button. The car door swung open, and Y/N jumped out. She ran to the front door and shoved it open.

Her heart stopped at the scene in front of her. Her blood ran cold, and her eyes stared wide in horror. All she could do was choke out a sob. "Ms.Mazzi?"

She stared at the floor. Blood was everywhere in pools and smears. It was splattered on the wall and ceiling. Y/N turned away and swallowed the puke that was coming up. She pushed forward and walked into the house. "Venna, the police are on their way to help you." She grabbed her phone and dialed the young girl's mothers number.

She placed the phone to her ear and started walking through the house. Ring, ringgg. Y/N's head perked up at a buzzing coming from the other room. Quietly she walked through the house.

Eventually she spotted the ringing phone. It was in the parents room. The room was clean- almost too clean, it overwhelmingly smelled of bleach and lemon. Y/N thought it was weird but paid no attention to it.

Y/N looked back to her phone and started dialing the fathers number. She placed her phone to her ear, and paced back and forth. Her rush of adrenaline was starting to fall, and it left her rather tired.

Y/N's hands fell to her sides when another ringtone sang in the room. She hung up the call on her phone, and abruptly so did the ringtone.

She fell to her knees and started at the covered bed frame. Y/N assumed this whole thing was a coincidence, it wasn't everyday you dropped your phone under your bed- but it still happened.

She grabbed the cover and slowly started lifting it. Something was telling her it was a bad idea, maybe her heart? To her it felt more like an angel, or devil on her shoulder. But either way she ignored the feeling. She lifted the sheet all the way up and ducked down to see it.

She immediately stammered back from the smell. What seemed like a million flies flew out from the bed. She covered her nose and lifted the cover again. This time she was able to get a better look.

Her heart pounded like a drum in her chest. She stared at what you would presume to be the rotting, dead bodies of both Ms.Mazzi and Mr.Mazzi. Tears pricked at Y/N's eyelids. Ms.Mazzi's stare bored into her. Her lifeless and cloudy eyes held no emotion. Her skin was green and blood fell from her nose.

Y/N shot up, and ran as fast as she could out of the house.

When she finally reached the outside of the house she could hear the sirens wailing down the street. She ran down to the sidewalk and waved her hands around like a crazy person. Eventually police cars and an ambulance rode down the street.

The policemen hopped out from their cars and walked over to Y/N, while she ran to him. "Ma'am-" The policeman stumbled back a little as Y/N grabbed his shoulders. "They're under the bed!" The policeman looked at her in a puzzled manner. "What?"

"The parents, they're under the bed!" He looked at his coworker then back to the panicked woman. "Stay here." He ordered and he and his coworkers walked into the house.

A lady walked over to Y/N and grabbed her arm. "Come over here, ma'am." She got wrapped in a blanket and waited for what felt like hours.

Soon the medical personnel ran into the house, taking all the equipment they could. After another long while they pulled out two long stretchers that were covered with a white cloth. Soon after another stretcher was pulled out, and immediately Y/N recognized it as Venna. Her poor frail body was pale, and violently shook.

Y/N closed her eyes and looked away–all she could hope for was that this was another nightmare–or maybe some twisted form of a dream.

Footsteps lead up to Y/N, another officer placed his hand on her shoulder. "You're free to go, we'll be in contact with you sooner than later." His words were rather comforting to Y/N, and so was his tone. She glanced at the man, and nodded.

The ride home didn't bring any comfort to her. Instead her mind was constantly back to the poor teen girl, and her mothers lifeless face and body. She tried shaking the thought off. She blasted music so loud people walking by could most likely hear No Tears Left To Cry by Ariana Grande blasting through her car.

It was a breath of relief when she pulled into the driveway of her apartment. She couldn't wait to finally lay down and watch a drama of some sort.

Two hours later she had ended up falling asleep on her couch as she watched Insatiable. She groggily woke up from a knock on her door. She rubbed the sleep from her eyes, and got up. She opened the door expecting to see a package she had been waiting for. Instead she was met with a man who looked to be around the same age as her.

"Hello?" She tried to run her hands through her hair but got caught on a few snarls. "Can I help you?" She continued. "You can." She shivered at his voice. She stared at the man, he had brown hair and a mask on.

Her whole body told her to slam the door, but instead she opened the door a little wider.

"Come in."
