The wanderer was leaning against a tree nearby the entrance to the city, waiting for the return of someone. He had been there for the last hour or more along with the sun was setting in the distant horizon. A gush of cool wind blew by, jingling the ornaments attached to his headwear. W/n opened his eyes upon hearing faint footsteps a while away from where he was.
Squinting slightly, he was able to spot the familiar black garment of the mechanism traveling towards the gates, just emerging out of the bridge made out of a hollow tree placed as a tunnel. He leaned his weight off the tree bark, crossing his arms and waiting for her to close the gap between them. She probably got sidetracked by a sunny looking spot in the trees while coming back or a butterfly passing by.
"Aren't you an early bird." He raised an unimpressed brow once she was close enough to hear him. To be fair, she could've probably still heard him from where she was before if she wanted to. Y/n tilted her head. "Your statement does not match the situation we are presented to." She replied back in a monotone voice. When hit with an unfavourable situation with him, the mechanism learnt to simply pretend to not understand his point and slithered out of the situation. He huffed and shook his head.
When he was about to turn around and walk towards the city, something caught the corner of his sight.
Y/n had a complex anatomy that appeared human at first glance, yet was composed of near bafflingly intricate parts and details inside out. The composition of her systems seemed to be inspired heavily off the systems of a human— yet it almost had nothing in common in one angle. It was her eyes that stood out most.
Eyes are one of the most important parts of a living being that moves, allowing them to see their surroundings and lets the body know what is going on outside of its boundaries. Humans look at each other's eyes in conversations to show that they are listening, a detail Y/n never understood. The shape used as symbols associated with omnipresence or often described as the gateway to the soul. Y/n only started making eye contacts recently, usually preferring to look elsewhere when speaking with someone. When one did get to peer into the eyes of the mechanism, they would tell at first glance they were no human.
She described humans' eyes to be quite curious things to her. That she could just stare into their eyes long enough, and probably would understand more than if they spoke to her with the tongue. People would often described her eyes to always be looking either confused or unfocused- eyes being one of the heaviest factor of showing emotion. Y/n could somewhat move her face to a faint smile or frowns, but struggled to move that emotion up to her eyes.
