The days had been getting colder.
Nobody really knew why, but pretty much everyone seemed fine with it.But there was a few contestants that didn't like the cold, however.
With food becoming scarce, people going missing, and the cold setting in, the contestants were getting worried.
Golf Ball knew she couldn't hide from her team forever. Tennis Ball would be worried.
She finally decided to head back. What had happened with Teardrop should have worked. But Golf Ball advised her not to try talking until they met up again.
Golf Ball walked over to her team, awkwardly holding her hands together. Her hands? No— these weren't hers.
She still felt guilty about that.
She looked up. Tennis Ball was looking at her.
He looked horrified. She'd have to make an excuse. Fast.
"Is it just me, or does it seem like everything's gone wrong?"
"No, not just you." Coiny answered, looking over at Pin. "There's a lot that's wrong. There's been the hosts randomly dissapearing, people going missing, it's been getting colder and colder with every passsing day, we're running out of food—"
"We get it, Coiny!" Needle exclaimed, looking at the coin.
Coiny frowned at her, and Pin started sweating, remembering."Hey, calm down." Coiny said, catching sight of Pin, and trying to comfort her, pretty much jumping over the counter to do so. "Things could always be worse."
"That doesn't—"
"Coiny actually has a point." Needle cut in. "The other teams are definitely... struggling somewhat." She grinned, leaning back.
"Tree has been miserable in the cold. Golf Ball was missing for a bit, I'm not sure if she showed back up. Freaked her whole team out. Just Not has to deal with... Pillow. She hasn't changed but like... still?? She's a handful. Oh, and didn't Marker get sick?""Marker got sick? How?" Donut asked, looking over into the room. Coiny raised an eyebrow, and Needle just shrugged.
Golf Ball looked slightly embarrassed, but she decided to change the subject anyways, since she didn't want to seem to weird to her friend, especially since he most likely wouldn't be able to look at her in the same way now. "What are you working on?" Golf Ball muttered as she tried to change the subject, looking around cautiously to make sure nobody was there.
"Oh, just... research... like you." Tennis Ball said. His tone became noticeably more sarcastic. "But my research actually has a purpose, unlike whatever you're researching."
Golf Ball frowned slightly. She regretted what she had said now. All she had brought up was research. Was Tennis Ball suspicious of her? Was he losing his trust in her? But— Tennis Ball was her friend...! She sighed, trying to hide the fact that she was slightly annoyed.
"Actually, my experiments do have a purpose." Golf Ball said, trying to sound calm."Oh, really? Then what's your purpose for it!?" Tennis Ball said with a slightly angered tone as well. "Also, what experiments!?"
She was quiet for a moment, debating on if she would tell him about what she had been doing — how she was behind the disappearances, how she was experimenting on these people, and the hosts, for the sake of science. "My experiments have the purpose of expanding the object knowledge of biology."
Golf Ball sighed, putting her notepad down on the desk. She looked to the side for a moment, trying not to look at Tennis Ball. She tried to sound confident."Tennis ball, I am doing experiments on people."
Golf Ball instantly regretted what she said, and she covered her mouth with her hands.
Her hands?"Wh- what!?" Tennis Ball said in a mixture of surprise and concern. Tennis Ball was speechless now. He wanted to say something, to call Golf Ball insane even, but he didn't know what to say. He just... kept looking down at Golf Ball, who seemed to be unable to meet his eyes. "Why!? What are these experiments!?"
"...Well... basically, I have been kidnapping people, and... experimenting on them..." Golf Ball muttered, still not meeting Tennis Ball's eyes.
"What!? You're... you're kidnapping people... for experiments!?" Tennis Ball sounded disgusted, and like he's lost all trust with Golf Ball. "So it was you!? Why!? Why are you doing this!? What do you get from experimenting on people!?"
...He looks disgusted... that's... yeah... understandable... I'd be disgusted if somebody told me they did that too... Golf Ball thought. "...For science... And I gain knowledge... I think I can make great scientific discoveries this way."
Tennis Ball looked at Golf Ball in disbelief. "Is this just for knowledge!? You've been... abducting people... for knowledge!?"
Tennis Ball said in a loud and disgusted tone. He was getting louder and louder as he got more and more agitated."I-I know how bad that looks..." Golf Ball spoke auietly, knowing Tennis Ball had the right to be mad. She definitely regretted telling Tennis Ball about it now.
"You... you can't do this! This is... this is immoral! This is cruel! What if you killed someone during these experiments!?" Tennis Ball shouted in horror. "Golf Ball, you can't do this to people!"
"Tennis Ball, please! Don't worry!" Golf Ball said with a big, yet slightly strained smile. "I'm making sure not to kill any of them!"
"...I think there's something wrong with me." Golf Ball muttered to herself. She frowned, not looking him in the eyes still. She just held her hands together, ashamed.
Tennis Ball probably hated her now.So much for their friendship.
