*First time writing, this is my first work. I don't expect it to get views. I did it really just for fun.*

I wake to a bright light, "Markie?" I heard a small girl voice say.

I twisted on my bed to get away from the light, and I covered myself with my blanket, "Hm..?"

"It's time to wake up," She says. I slowly removed the blanket from my head and sat up.

"Yeah.?" I open my eyes just to be stunned by the sun.

"Mhm." I turn my head to look at her, "You have to get up, Markie, you promised you'll cook for me today."

"I did?"  I looked her blankly.

"Yes, Mark." She rolled her eyes and walked out of my room. I smiled and got up. As I stretched, my white cat walked in.
"Miaow," He purred, his white and gray fluffy body rubbed against my leg.

"Must be nice not needing to worry about school, huh, Cloud?" He purred against my leg, his way of asking for food, " I'll just take a quick shower, alright?"

I grabbed my towel along with my clothes, well, uniform. Emerald High, the school I go to, is strict about what we wear. Anything else is fine, for example, dying your hair. They only allow to dye the tips, not the whole thing,

I stepped into the bathroom and began to undress. It was pretty cold, so I wrapped myself in my towel while waiting for the water to get to the perfect temperature.

Once it was good, I placed my towel on its hanger and stepped inside the tub. Another day of school. I thought to myself. Maybe something good will happen today, I hope.

I felt the hot water hit my back, "I better hurry up if I want to have time to cook for Grace." I mumbled to myself. The water did feel nice, but good things must come to an end.

I began to dry myself with my towel, and then I started to put body lotion on to keep my skin smooth. Afterward, I put put on my black short sleeve uniform. I looked in the mirror to see my black messy, and may I say tangled hair. I'm letting it grow a bit because I want to see how it looks on me.

With the comb in my hand, I began to undo the knots. I let some of my hair fall on top of my ice blue eyes.

"G'morning, Marcus." I heard a deep, rough voice call me.

"Morning, Dad!" I yelled out, quickly putting on the cat apron. I took out bread, butter, eggs, and orange juice, Grace's favorite. I finished cooking, and she came downstairs. She took a seat across from dad.

"Woah," She gasped out, "This looks so yummy." The little six year old said.

Dad laughed out, "It's better than her cooking." It's currently just the three of us, plus Cloud, of course. Ever since Mom and Dad divorced, he has been doing better, and so have I. We have another sibling, too, Alexa. We see each other from time to time, but not often.

Once Grace finished her food, I rushed her to her bedroom and took out her brush. I tied her hair as quickly as possible into two braids. Grace's hair being straight made it easier for me.

I took one good look at her. She was smiling, her brown almond eyes filled with excitement. Grace was wearing her favorite pink shirt, her orange skirt, and, of course, black leggings underneath.

Before I got a chance to say something, we both heard a 'Honk'. "We better hurry." I called out. I quickly grabbed her bag while she put on her shoes.

"Bye, Dad. Bye, Marcus." She smiled at us. Dad and I both said 'bye' to her as she left.

"Shouldn't you also be leaving, Marcus?" I jolted as my dad said that.

"Right!" I grabbed by messenger bag and left.

*First chapter is done. With 686 words, I think I did good, but I wonder what will happen at Emerald High.*
