"and in the middle of the chaos there was you"

~mallory~

my favorite season is coming up, and i couldn't be more excited. the thoughts of the parties, festivals, cheers, and treats that come along with the christmas season have infiltrated my mind throughout the entire year.

except, now that the weather is cold enough and i woke up to the smallest specks of snow in my yard this morning, means what i've been waiting for is finally here.

christmas is in a week in a half, and tomorrow is our last training date before we get a week off. for the first time since i can remember, i actually enjoyed getting out of bed. ultimately, the faster i get to training, the faster it's over.

rome also invited alyssa, loic, and i to his parents holiday house up in the mountains to spend the weekend. i of course said yes, because who wouldn't want to spend their christmas in a cute little cabin with their best friends in the entire world?

i'm also taking it as a chance to work out whatever is going on between me and rome. he's super confusing and it's hard for me to read him. i just hope that this weird attraction between us can be put aside for at least the weekend for the sake of our holiday festivities.

the sound of christmas music blasting through my ear drums causes me to roll over in bed and face plant on the ground. i groan, but get up anyways, excited for today and tomorrow to be over with.

i walk into my bathroom and pull my hair into a high ponytail and then quickly braid it. i've figured out that doing most things before training at home instead of in the locker room saves me a lot of time. so i've started doing my hair at home, so i can use the extra minutes to fill salma in on all the never ending drama going on in my life at that moment.

i pull on a sweatshirt that has a small nike swoosh on the front and a large barca logo etched on the back. then slip on some matching sweatpants, it's cold outside it's important to stay warm.

i slide on my tennis shoes and skip out of my room and down the stairs to the beat of the song playing through my houses built in speakers. i'm still not sure why or how there's music playing, but once i turn the corner and see loic, alyssa, and rome all gathered around my kitchen island, i am quick to assume.

"um, hello?" i look at them all, confused on how they even got into my house, but more importantly why. i walk to the controls and turn the music down a couple notches, so i can at least hear them speak.

"we wanted to surprise you after training with a decorated house, but we thought you already left." alyssa lets out an embarrassed giggle and loic sassily smacks her shoulder to make her shut up. i smile widely, silently thanking the group for the nice gesture.

as im grabbing a protein bar from my pantry, i hear pedri honk from outside. ever since i promised him he could take me a week ago so i could teach him that trick, he hasn't stopped showing up. i don't really mind because it's a free ride, but i'm starting to miss me and salmas morning concerts.

loic moves towards the window and his jaw almost drops to the floor. "please tell me why there's a fine ass man outside waiting to pick you up." this catches the attention of alyssa and rome, who both peer over my shoulder to get a look at pedri outside.

it's very obvious to anyone who's met loic, that he knows absolutely nothing about football. if he did, he might recognize pedri as my teammate and not as just another hot guy.

i shove loics shoulder and he turns around smirking at me. "i gotta go to training, see you guys later." rome pulls me in for a quick unexpected hug, which causes alyssa to eye me weirdly. i shrug it off and walk towards the front door. "and please don't wake the twins up!" i warn them and then walk outside towards pedri's car.
