I had no chance to prepare, I couldn't see you comin'

" Aye pass the ball "
Reign looked down at the ball irritated she didn't even want to be here .
Reign was at her brother's basketball practice she only came because she didn't want to go to soccer practice she didn't like it she'd get all hot and sweaty .
Her mom had to go to work today it was either here or the field & she chose his practice .
Reign kicked the ball at the boy's feet " finally " the boy said
Reign looked up at the boy and was speechless he looked otherworldly his tan skin dripping in sweat big letters printed the number "21" across his jersey he had her stuck .
Reign typically never took a liking to boys she merely found them attractive she never thought much of it she just assumed she was asexual after this encounter she concluded that was definitely not the case .
𝖭𝗂𝖼𝗄𝗈𝗅𝖺𝗌 𝖬𝖾𝗇𝖽𝖾𝗓
" Thanks " he said to the stranger who passed him the ball he wondered who she was he'd never seen a girl at practice before let alone one as pretty as she was . The girl didn't speak back she just hopped on her phone .
an hour or two had passed after him practicing at an almost empty gym he began to grow curious who was she here for ?
He thought even if she was here for some one didn't she know it was saturday Ike didn't run practice on saturdays .
he was just there to practice his jumper if he wanted to make it on the international team someday he had to be sharp .
He grew tired of wondering and just said something .
" 𝐃𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲 "
she turned around " 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐠𝐲𝐦 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭 ? " she said . He didn't expect her to be so snappy all of her features looked so fragile and angelic he thought she would speak in a softer tone.
" 𝐘𝐨𝐮"𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐈 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮"𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐢𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 " he shot back at her he wasn't trying to be rude but all he did was ask a simple question her response didn't have to be so hostile .
She slowed her response she looked puzzled like she didn't have a rebuttal . " 𝐈'𝐦 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐲 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐨𝐲𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐈 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 " Royale he thought trying to remember all of his teammates he only started playing on this team like a week or two ago so he was tough on names but he remembered Royale as he was quite literally the only boy he was close with at the moment .
Royale told me he was going to see a girl named sky . she looked a little irritated . "𝐨𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝 " .
The sun was going down as the boy put the basketball back in the equipment closet and the girl was now standing up looking unsure .
she spoke " 𝐑𝐨𝐲𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈 𝐮𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐜𝐚𝐫 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 " she trailed off .
" 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐲 𝐦𝐨𝐦 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 " he spoke in a somewhat nicer tone than before .
" 𝐎𝐤 " she spoke following him out of the red doors of the gym . He didn't stop at the entrance of the building . " 𝐈 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐞𝐝 " we are he spoke we are walking to the store so my mom doesn't have to drive for so long she has back eye sight and hates driving at night .
that's sweet she thought . He walked into the store picking up her favorite candy carmel m&ms . " 𝐃𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 ? " he stopped for a minute trying to figure her name as he laid eyes on silver dangling pandora bracelet charm that was shaped like a crown " 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 " he called her .
She put the pack of candy on the counter as he paid " 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 ? " she questioned my name is Reign she said roughly . I'm Nick he said but my friends call me "21" okay Nick she said . They sat in silence as the boys mom pulled up .

" mamá " he dragged out in a embarrassed tone reign laughed saying thank you Ms. Teresa .
She understood spanish she just couldn't speak it well .
Nick gave her a surprised glance but looked away . They arrived at reign's humble abode and her mother was standing outside worried reign she yelling hugging her " you could've gotten kidnapped or worse why didn't you come home " she asked .
No one picked me up she said her mom face palmed so your dad didn't come to get you she said and reign answer no .
her mom told her she deal with it later and thanked Ms.Teresa for bringing her daughter home . Reign was walking in the house until she heard " goodnight princess " she turned around to see Nick hanging out the window with a goofy grin she shook her head yelling back " goodnight nicky " she said teasing him for the name his mom called him .
Reign could hear the usual shouting from her parents room as she seen Royale sleeping across the hallway in his room she climbed into her own bed thinking of the crazy day she had and the peculiar boy she met .
