Five Years Later

"The time is now five o'clock. You are dismissed for the day."

The loud intercom startled you, and you rubbed your eyes tiredly, finally done with work for the day. Gathering your things, you started to head out of the Ministry and down to the first floor. Everyone was starting to file out for the day, but there was only one person you wanted to see.

"Hello darling," Lucius smiled as you found him in the sea of people.

"Hello husband. You ready to go home?"

He kissed your cheek and pulled you close to him. "Oh most certainly."

You headed out hand in hand as other witches and wizards waved to you both, everyone knowing you as the power couple you'd become.

You never would've imagined yourself working at the Ministry, let alone on a single floor apart from your now husband. But your mother had come to you with a job opening that was very hard to resist.

In Muggle Relations.

You were terrified of taking the position at first, feeling inadequate and fearful that you wouldn't be the right fit. But Lucius knew with absolute certainty that you were meant for a position there.

Of course he was equally overjoyed to have his wife potentially working with him, but he believed in his heart that this was where you belonged, and you felt the same.

So you took the job.

Lucius had managed to gain forgiveness from many former colleagues who all resumed life as if nothing had happened those years ago with Voldemort. Lucius had done the work and put in the effort to get back on the good side of the more prominent wizards and witches, and was given his position back at the Ministry three years prior.

Only a year after that were you then offered a position working in Muggle Relations. A department that Lucius was determined to tear down at one point, had become the topic of nightly dinners. He had grown an admiration for the topic, and an admiration for the muggles themselves.

All because of you.

He still was in awe of his life sometimes. You'd been there by his side the whole way, encouraging him and believing that he could be anything he wanted to be as he turned his life around. You knew he could change if he truly wished to, and with your words, he did.

Returning back to the manor that night, you were excited to have a warm meal prepared. With much reluctance, you'd added a few staff members back to the manor over the years, although none of the former members were allowed to return, given what had happened.

You and Lucius had agreed to turn over a new leaf, and leave the lies and hardships from the beginning of your relationship in the past many years ago. Although you always treasured your first infatuation with him, it was for the best. And all those tender feelings from back then you still managed to have for him to the day.

He had changed in many ways over the years, but was still the Lucius you loved dearly. He would still kiss you just because he could. Carefully watch you undress and reignite you like every time was the first.

His love for you hadn't faltered in the slightest. It had only grown.

You had matured, your hips filling out some, and your face losing a hint of its innocence. But he loved you even more, if that was possible. He thought you were still the most gorgeous woman on the planet. And every night, he made sure you felt it too.

Things weren't perfect though. Both of your relationships to Draco were still fractured. He only came around every few years, it still being too painful to see you happy with Lucius. When the two of you got married, he'd shown his face for only a minute. Just to see if there was a chance of him ever being able to accept this marriage at all.
