The first rays of the Australian sun filtered through the curtains, gently nudging Monica Reyes from her slumber. She blinked her eyes open, her gaze momentarily fixed on the intricate patterns of light dancing on her bedroom wall. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she stretched her arms above her head, relishing the sensation of warmth and comfort that enveloped her.

With a graceful roll, she swung her legs over the edge of the bed and placed her feet on the cool wooden floor. She ran her fingers through her tousled blonde hair, pushing away any lingering remnants of sleep.

Her first stop was the small window sill where a potted plant stood, basking in the morning sun. Monica carefully watered it, a daily ritual that had become a symbol of her nurturing spirit. Next, she padded into the bathroom, the cool tiles sending a pleasant shiver up her spine. The cold water streamed down her body slowly going warmer, she closed her eyes for a moment, allowing the water to cascade over her, washing away the last traces of drowsiness.

As she lathered her hair with lavender-scented shampoo, Monica couldn't help but let her thoughts wander. The shower was her sanctuary, a place where ideas flowed as freely as the water itself. Sam Kerr as the one who was constantly on her mind, now that she had actually met the girl the celebrity crush she had on the soccer player had increased by ten fold.

After rinsing off, she moved on to her skincare routine, selecting products that would keep her complexion fresh and radiant. The bathroom filled with the subtle scent of her favourite moisturiser as she applied it with gentle, circular motions. Monica emerged from the bathroom, her skin invigorated by a splash of cold water. She donned a simple yet elegant attire - a white blouse paired with dark jeans.

Her morning routine wouldn't be complete without a visit to the kitchen. Monica brewed a strong cup of Australian coffee, its aroma filling the air and energizing her senses. She sipped it slowly, savouring the rich flavours as she contemplated the words waiting to be written. Coffee was one pot the big things Mona had missed whilst she was on tour in the US especially, the coffee over there is more like dirt.

A loud ringing from Mona's bedroom interrupted her train of thought. Sighing in annoyance Mona made her way back to her room to see her phone vibrating with a call from Ellie.

"Hey, Ellie," Monica answered, her voice tinged with curiosity.

"Monica, have you seen the news?" Ellie's voice sounded urgent on the other end.

"No, I've just woken up and gotten ready. What's going on?" Monica asked, her interest piqued.

"Check this out. The media is buzzing with headlines about you and Sam," Ellie said, her tone a mix of excitement and concern.

Monica's heart skipped a beat. "What are they saying?"

"They're suggesting that you two might be in a relationship, they are also kinda shaming you for it since you've only just gotten out of your relationship with Shawn Mendes." Ellie exclaimed.

Monica felt a rush of emotions. She remembered the dinner the previous night, a casual gathering of friends. They had shared a hug goodbye, nothing more. But in the world of sensational headlines, even a simple hug could be blown out of proportion. And bringing up Shawn, really, how low could you get?

Monica sighed, realizing the potential impact this could have on her life. "Ellie, you know how the media twists things. It was just a friendly hug."

"I know, Monica, but you should be prepared for some attention," Ellie cautioned.

Monica nodded, her mind racing with thoughts of how to handle the situation. She appreciated Ellie's concern and support.

"Thanks for letting me know, Ellie. I'll figure out how to deal with this," Monica replied, her voice determined.

"Just remember, I've got your back no matter what," Ellie assured her.

Monica smiled. "I couldn't ask for a better friend. Thanks, Ellie." Monica's mind went straight to Sam, what would she think of all this? Would she be mad at her? Would she ever want to see her again? Huffing in annoyance Mona flopped onto her bed letting out a muffled scream into her pillows, as much as she loved her life doing what she enjoyed most she almost had to hate the fame side of it at times like this.

Monica hurried through the bustling Melbourne airport, her heart pounding with anxiety. As she approached the departure gate, her eyes widened in surprise. A throng of paparazzi had gathered, their cameras clicking and flashing, capturing every move.

Ignoring their invasive presence, Monica continued walking, her pace quickening. The relentless paparazzi, however, closed in on her, their voices rising in a cacophony of questions.

"Monica, can you comment on the rumours about you and Samantha Kerr?"

"Miss Reyes, have you really moved on from Shawn?"

Monica kept her gaze forward, determined not to engage with the probing reporters. She knew that acknowledging them would only fuel the fire of speculation.

"Monica, just a word about your relationship with Shawn?"

"Are you and Samantha Kerr more than just friends?"

"Monica are you gay?"

Monica reached the security checkpoint and turned to face the paparazzi briefly. Her expression was one of disgust, how invasive could you get?

The airport security personnel stepped in, creating a barrier between Monica and the persistent paparazzi, allowing her to proceed. She walked through security and towards her gate, the noise of the reporters fading behind her.

As Monica settled into her seat on the plane to Sydney, she couldn't help but feel a mixture of frustration and vulnerability. The paparazzi had a knack for turning her private life into headlines. She knew that the rumors about her and Samantha Kerr, as well as her recent breakup with Shawn Mendes, would likely continue to swirl in the media. All she could do was stay focused on her career and maintain her privacy as best as possible, no matter how challenging it might be.

Slightly shorter one for now, I'm aiming to upload a longer one either today or tomorrow. I've got a fair amount of time now cause it's school holidays so when I am having a break from my hsc studies I'll be writing. Next chapter will include her concert and a certain someone will be there 🤭
