It's dark. Perfect for vampires here. I don't smell them yet. I smell nothing but bird poo and the wretched smell of oil. I turn. Phillip is already asleep. No offense to him, but he is so fragile. I don't know why he became a Jaeger, but it's linked to my tribe. We have history. I didn't even know the guy.
I look up at the stars. I remember looking at them when I was a kid with Mikhail. Those were the good old days. I remember him telling me what each constellation is. The Big Dipper. Cassiopia. Hydra. Then it kind of all went to Hell. I remember the blood I saw. I remember my village burning.
How can I forgive the Professor for what he did to me? He was the cause of the destruction of my home. He's responsible for everyone's death. I can't forgive him. I won't. I swear I will hate him for all eternity. I might do what he asks me to, but I will never ever forgive him. How can I?
I hear something. A howl. A wolf's howl. My head cocks. My nose fills with the smell of blood. I turn. to where the howl is. I have to know what that is. I'm drawn to it. I'm so drawn to it. Phillip should stay here, nothing to worry about. I'll be fine. I run to the howl.
