"How long are you in Nockfell for?" Larry asks, picking up a rock to skip. 1, 2, 3 skips before the rock sinks.

"Oh, I actually just moved back."

Larry looked over, a giant smile on his face. "You did?" He chuckles. "Man, I thought you were gone for good. Guess I'm stuck with you again, huh?"

I let out a small laugh. Good to know that Larry hasn't changed one bit. I look over at his other friends who had been talking to each other, finding a strange joy in the fact that Larry had managed to make other friends while I was gone. I looked back at Larry before searching for another rock for him to skip.

"Quite the group of friends you've got there."

"Hm? Oh yeah, met them a little after you left. Well except for Ash."

I found a smooth rock and handed it to him as I backed up, kicking my sketch book farther back in the grass. "That's her name! I knew we've met before." I watch him skip the rock 1, 2 times.

"Boooo!" A voice from the group shouts. I look over to see Sal. Larry rolls his eyes in response with a laugh.

"I'd like to see you do better!" Larry retorts as he grabs a small rock and tosses it more so at Sal than to him.

Ash clapped and giggled, encouraging the competition. "Come on Sal! Kick his ass!" She cheers as Sal picks up the rock and walks towards Larry. As Sal and Larry bickered over who can skip a rock further, Ash managed get Todd to start cheering too.

Well I don't have much of a choice do I? I have to cheer too.

With me, Ash, and Todd as cheerleaders, Sal gets ready and skips the rock 1, 2, 3, 4 times.

"Suck it!" Sal cheers as he laughs.

"Beginners luck!"

"Beginners luck my ass!"

And they're back to arguing. It seems like this is a common occurrence. I watch the two interact, feeling a strange feeling. I shake it off and watch the lake. The sunset, the breeze, the ripples in the water.

Despite the chaos around me, everything feels peaceful. The lake has a way of doing that. It's supernatural. Truly.
