AURORA is the debut album of the soloist Aurora. It was released on May 12, 2017, under Big Hit Entertainment.
Aurora wrote all seven songs with the help of Big Hit producer Brave Sound, KARD's BM, and J-Hope.
The music video for the main track "AURORA" premiered on May 12, 2017, on BIG HIT MUSIC's official YouTube channel.
"AURORA" is classifed as one of the most successful K-POP soloist debuts ever.
The physical version debuted at No.1 on the Gaon Album Chart, becoming the best-selling album by a female soloist in the chart's history, and set the record for the highest first-week sales among all female acts with 736,221 copies sold. It was certified double platinum by the Korea Music Content Association (KMCA) in November 2021 for selling 500,000 copies, and was later certified triple platinum in August 2023 for selling 750,000 copies.
AURORA as a main track reached No.3 on Gaon Digital Chart and garnered 1 million streams. It also reached No.2 on US World Digital Songs. It also peaked at number two on the Billboard Global 200, becoming Aurora's first top-ten hit on the chart, and entered the US Billboard Hot 100 at number 84.
An accompanying music video was simultaneously uploaded to BIG HIT MUSIC's YouTube channel with the single's release; the video received 73.6 million views within 24 hours, becoming the most-viewed music video in a single day from a soloist on the platform.
Aurora broke records as the first K-POP idol, female or otherwise, to win "Best K-POP" at the MTV Video Music Award.
FULL MOON peaked at No.4 on Gaon Digital Chart and No.6 on US World Digital Song Sales.
NOT SORRY peaked at No.5 on US World Digital Songs and No.5 on Gaon.
The album earned twelve music show awards.
Aurora won "Best Music Video" for AURORA and "Best New Artist" at the Mnet Asian Music Awards. She also won "Best New Artist" and "Best Female Solo" at the Melon Music Awards.
