[the fourth day of the month of Aima, year 468 CE]

Valleus went to Titus first, to inform him of the slight change of duties. Of course, he'd still be protecting Aushen and serving as his knight, but much more closely than usual. Titus understood, and offered to have Carmine lead Daedala while Valleus rode in the carriage. Valleus gratefully agreed, and went to tell Olef the good news.

Color was already returning to the attendant's face when Valleus arrived. "Everyone's in agreement," the knight informed him. "I'll be attending to Aushen until your motion sickness subsides."

Olef smiled brightly. "Thank you so much, Sir Valleus. I dread to think of his highness cleaning up after me any more than he already has."

Valleus chuckled in response. "Now, what do I need to know about being his attendant?"

"Well, you just need to be attentive," Olef explained ambiguously. "In all honesty, you're already pretty good at that. The attendant provides meals, offers the chamber pot, helps their master bathe, and dress. There are many other things, but for the sake of this trip, those will be the most important tasks."

Upon hearing those words, Valleus couldn't tell if his face wanted to grow pale, or bright red. "Bathe and dress, you said?" he asked nervously.

"Absolutely. Though while traveling like this, it's unfortunately impossible for his highness to get a proper bath, but I provide warm water and clean towels to wipe him down, and apply oils to his skin and hair to keep them in good condition in this weather," Olef explained matter-of-factly. "You may be unaccustomed to such things, Sir Valleus, but they will be necessary parts of attending to his highness. You can still do this, right?"

The knight gulped, nerves prickling at his chest and throat. This trip was determined to test every ounce of his self-control. "Y-yes. It won't be a problem." Valleus did his best to pay attention as Olef explained where to get the needed supplies.

Tensely, Valleus finished with Olef and went to get things for Aushen to clean up. He felt his heart thump in his chest with each step he took towards the prince's carriage. 'I can do this...' he told himself. Then, he knocked slightly on the carriage door. Aushen opened the door quickly, as if he'd been waiting for Valleus' arrival. His eyes fluttered down at the small tub of water the knight held, then shifted shyly. Without a word, Valleus entered the carriage. It was somewhat cooler than usual since it had been aired out during cleaning.

"D-do you need assistance wiping down, Your Highness?" Valleus couldn't meet the prince's eyes as he asked.

Aushen shook his head firmly. "N-no, I'll be fine." A bright blush colored his cheeks.

"Then I'll just be over here," Valleus replied quietly, stepping towards the back of the carriage. Though it was kind of partitioned from the rest of the carriage, it wasn't completely blocked off, nor was it very far from the main sitting area. To Valleus' dismay, he realized Aushen set the basin on a counter-like area only a couple feet from him, and stood away from the main sitting area to wipe himself down. Therefore, he was undressing and wiping himself down only a few feet from where Valleus was.

The knight coughed nervously, willing his body to calm down. "Y-Your Highness, would you prefer if I stepped out to give you some privacy?"

"No- please stay," Aushen answered, voice scarcely above a whisper. "I'll need help cleaning my back, and applying the oils to my skin and hair."

Valleus shivered at the thought. His whole life, he'd never felt as deep a desire as he did now. Like a mantra, Valleus repeated the words, 'I'm his knight, and I'm acting as his attendant. I'm his servant, nothing more.'
