Oh Depression, you cruel and ruthless beast
You wrap your web around us, not to release
You make us feel as if we cannot breathe
Shrouding us in darkness with no reprieve

You drain our energy, steal our hope
And leave us with nothing but a slippery slope
You make us question our very existence
And rob us of all joy and persistence

The world around us loses its color and light
As we struggle through each day and night
Each moment feels heavy, dragging us down
And we feel so lost, with no way to be found

Yet amidst the darkness, some light still glows
And though it be small, it grows and grows
A hand reaching out, a listening ear
A word of comfort, a way to persevere

So dear Depression, though you may persist
We will not let you silence or dismiss
For we are stronger than you will ever know
And with love and support, we will inevitably grow.
