The man smiled. "Great. Welcome."
"What do I need to do?" Alice asked.
"You will get your assignments through one of our guys. Don't worry about that. For now, you just need to continue being your usual self. Try to keep your father occupied with worthless stuff. Keep his attention away from me and the shooting."
"What do I tell my father right now? He expects me to report back to him," Alice informed him.
"Try to make him forget about it," the man said. "But do not tell him that you cannot tell him."
"So if I told him something so shocking, like I was behind the whole thing, would that be good?" Alice asked.
"You know your father best. If that is what will work, then so be it," he told Alice. "May god be with you."
"Can you tell me who is in on it?" Alice asked.
"You will find out soon," he assured her.
"Alright. In case you don't know, I won't be able to come back down," Alice said.
"You must be your rebellious self remember? Besides, I don't think there's any need for that," he told her.
Alice stood up to go. "I will try my best." Then, she turned around and made her way upstairs. Her father met her at the stairs of the dungeon.
"Well?" he asked impatiently.
"I... I promised mother that I will eat right once I come up," she told him. "Then I will tell you."
"Food can wait," her father said.
"No. I promised mother," Alice said, and went off without another word.
The king followed her. "While you eat, you can tell me."
Alice found that her mother had prepared for her an entire table. Thanking her, Alice sat down to eat. After stuffing her face for a few minutes, her father turned to her impatiently. "Well?"
"Mmm. Food never tasted this good! Thank you, Mother," Alice said.
"I don't care about the food," he said. "What did the man say?"
"I am so glad I can eat again. I was wondering what I was going to do if I didn't get some food. I couldn't keep rebelling if I was dead, now could I?" she said with a laugh.
"Alice, answer my question," the king ordered.
"What did the man say? Oh that reminds me of a song! Except instead of man it was fox," Alice giggled as she started singing. "Dog goes woof, cat goes meow, bird go-".
"Alice, stop joking around. What did he tell you?" demanded King Henry.
"He told me that I'm beautiful," Alice giggled.
"Alice!" King Henry started angrily.
"You know, I always loved the movie Alice in Wonderland," Alice mused. "Was I named after her?"
"Alice, give me a straight answer now," the king ordered.
"As straight as a ruler?" Alice asked, trying to look serious.
"Alice! Just answer the question!" the king's eyes were fierce.
"I don't know if I can remember the answer," Alice said innocently.
