crying during truth or dare was not on leo's bucket list.

his friends probably already thought he was inferior, and now he'd broken down in front of all of them.

could you blame him? piper asked him "truth or dare," and because he'd already lit himself on fire and burnt his shirt off, he was too tired to do another dare. here's the catch: he forgot about her charmspeak.

what kind of question was "do you value yourself," anyway?

he tried to fight the charmspeak, but it just didn't work. he mumbled a "no." and, with a few hiccups and watering eyes, he burst into tears, crying into his legs.

jason wrapped leo into a hug, bringing them into a very awkward position, with their legs facing the center of the circle and their torsos twisting to meet each other. despite the uncomfortableness of their position, leo buried his face into the blond's shoulder.

well, if the seven didn't already think he was weak, they sure did now.

he squeezed jason tight, as if he might disappear (wink wink) (i'm kidding, jason didn't die in my world). "it's okay," jason whispered directly into his ear, causing his whole body to heat up.

after recollecting himself, leo pulled away slowly. still in need of comfort, he grabbed jason's hand and squeezed it, regarding the other people on the deck. "sorry," he whispered.

"hey, don't be sorry." frank assured. "we all value you. you're a part of our team. we wouldn't be the seven without you."

leo cleared his throat, deciding to pass over the matter. he doesn't mean it. he's trying to make you feel better. "uhm.. percy, truth or dare?"

"truth." percy said.

"what were you and annabeth doing in your room?" leo wiggled his eyebrows with a smirk.

"uhm.." percy hesitated. "we were just.. talking?"

"you don't sound too sure." hazel noticed.

"this really isn't your business." annabeth chided, grasping percy's hand.

to say he looked uncomfortable was an understatement. his breathing seemed to pick up a bit and a sense of panic laced over his eyes.

"percy. what happened in your room?" piper said, with a twinge of dominance. leo could tell she used charmspeak, not enough to force him into talking, but enough to get a few words out of him.

apparently jason noticed too. "piper, if he doesn't want to talk he doesn't have to."

piper ignored him. "percy, what happened?" she asked, lacing more charmspeak into her words.

"piper, stop! it isn't your business!" annabeth called.

the idea of annabeth shouting at her seemed to shock her, but she continued.

she asked again, with more force. "what happened in your room, percy?"

annabeth slammed her hand over percy's mouth as he opened it up to speak.

"piper, he's clearly not comfortable telling us! just let it go!" leo yelled. "it was my question, anyway. i can change it."

piper looked at her shoes.

"thank you," annabeth mouthed to leo and jason, her head was on percy's shoulder and she was still clutching his hand.

"uhm, percy? are you.. okay?" hazel finally spoke up.

"to be honest.. no." he looked at the floor.

"i'm sorry for.. you know." piper apologized. "i was just mad you were lying."

"sorry doesn't make up for your snake shit games." hazel hissed.

the room went quiet. hazel didn't seem like the type to cuss. apparently she was.

"hazel, it's okay, really." percy reasoned.

"no, it isn't! she practically used her stupid charmspeak to force you into talking about something that was clearly too personal to just casually mention."

all eyes turned to hazel. her eyes were near glowing. "hazel, calm down." frank grabbed her shoulder.

"yeah, yeah sorry." her voice seemed to tame itself a bit. annabeth had a smug look on her face; as if to say "i like this girl." piper was still fiddling with her shoelaces.

leo felt jason rub his thumb over his hand. apparently he forgot jason was still holding it in the first place and hastily let go. "lo siento," he whispered, red-faced.

jason reached for his hand again. leo looked at the blond with a twinge of guilt.

he allowed jason to take his hand again. "don't be sorry, leo." he whispered.

"you know spanish?" leo asked, dumbfounded.

"no, but i know you."

the two sat in silence as the rest of the group chattered.

"hey, are you okay?" jason asked, breaking the stillness. "i noticed you've been really.. distant lately. to me more than the rest of us.. you seem really closed off, and not cracking jokes, and i miss it. a lot."

"i thought you all thought my jokes were annoying?"

"i love your jokes."

"i– can we go to my cabin really quick?"

"sure."

hand in hand, the two boys stood and waltzed down the stairs to leo's cabin.
