You've got to be fucking kidding me.
Pain radiates through my jaw at how hard I'm clenching it as I separate myself from Summer - this absolute smoke show of a woman - to get the door for this asshole.
Grumbling to myself on my way, I can admit he isn't really an asshole, but my best friend. But could his timing have been any worse?
Leave it to him to be slamming on my door just as I'm about to score with probably the best looking girl I've seen in my entire life.
I swing the door open wide, ready to slam it back in his face, but Beau is already speaking, shoving my wallet against my chest.
"You left that in Maggie's room. She said she's mad at you so I had to bring it back, she didn't want you to come get it." Beau quirks a brow at me. "Apparently she 'doesn't want to see you right now.'"
"Thanks," I grunt, shoving the leather into my back pocket. "And she'll get over it."
The kid is too much like her mom to hold a grudge the way Beau can. Give it a couple of days and soon, our "argument" over CandyLand will be nothing but a distant memory. If the little booger hadn't tried to cheat her way into winning, we wouldn't even be in an argument at all.
Who cheats in CandyLand anyways? Beau's kid, that's who. She's lucky she's cute.
"I have better things to do, you know," Beau grunts, leaning against the doorframe. "Than to be the middle man when you get into a stalemate with-"
"Yeah, about having better things to do, actually." I interrupt, nodding my head into the living room without widening the door enough for him to actually see.
A suspecting grin spreads across his face. I don't like it one bit.
"So if you wouldn't mind," I continue quickly before he can mess this up even more, and attempt to shove him out, "I'll see you Sunday for pizza night."
"Oh, but I would mind." His smirk widens as he places a palm on the door and pushes it open wider, stepping through. "I'd mind very much."
"Leave it alone, Beau," I groan at the same time as he asks, "Is it the girl from the school?"
My head sinks back against my shoulders. Goddamn it. What're the chances Summer heard that? Given the minuscule size of this damn apartment, I'd say pretty fucking likely.
"Not your business." I grunt, but this is Beau and Beau does what he wants, so he sidesteps me completely and then suddenly he's in my living room. With Summer.
I turn and face them both awkwardly. Looking apologetically at Summer, whose got her arms wrapped around her chest like she's embarrassed, her pink cheeks giving her away completely, I shrug. "So this is Beau."
"Hey," She smiles brightly but it seems forced. She almost walks forward to shake his hand but I stop her with a shake of my head.
"No need to be polite. He's a major pain in my ass."
