I was 8 years old. My little sister Amy just had her school recital. Its was winter time in Wisconsin. Everything was covered in snow. It was so cold, you could see your breath. Me and Amy were wearing our jackets that were definitely too big for us. It's a tradition in our family, after a school event, we go get ice cream from Cold Stone.
To say I was excited was an understatement, which 8 year old doesn't love ice cream? "Which kind of ice cream are you going to get?" Amy says while practically drooling over the sweets in front of her. "I think I'm going to get cookies and cream" I said. I don't like going out of my comfort zone when it comes to food. I like what I like. No need for anything else. "I'm going to get the blue moon kind" Amy says. She looks to be in love.
Everyone gets their ice cream and we all sat at a table in the corner of the store. I watched as Amy practically inhaled her ice cream. Her face and hands were blue. I didn't finish all of my ice cream. Watching Amy eat all of hers made me full.
My mother, father, Amy, and I all got home. It was 6:30 at night on a Friday. Their isn't too much to do at 6:30 at night on a Friday in February. So, we put on a movie, cuddled up, and watched a movie together. It was pure harmony. Me and my sister started getting sleepy, so we went up to bed.
We don't have a very big house so me and my sister share a bedroom together. It's a finished attic and we get it all to our selfs. She's on one side and I'm on the other. It's perfect. We both read our books and fall asleep. Excited to see what tomorrow brings us.
I was abruptly woken up to screaming. I sat up and rubbed my eyes, trying to wake myself up enough to comprehend what's going on, I see Amy covered in this liquid. She screaming and crying. I've never seen her like this.
That's when I realized, she's been sick.
