Chapter 18 ↣ she knows

We head to our cabin after dinner, all of us, and we spread out in the room. Tess, Nick and I on my bed, Matt and Chris on Tess' bed, and Nate and Alahna on the floor watching some Netflix show she downloaded.

We're all on our phones, it's chill, I like it.

I look up to see Chris sitting across the room, smiling at me. I roll my eyes, he's really annoying and I still don't like him.
Tess sighs after slamming her phone down on the bed, "I'm bored"
"Me too" Nick says, I'm bored as well.
"We should play truth or dare" Tess suggests, I've never much liked that game.
"Um, or we could just watch a movie or something?" I suggest.
"Don't be such a bore Gia" Chris says, smirking.

Alahna and Nate aren't playing since they can't even hear us, they've got their AirPods way too high, I can hear the faint talking of their film.

"Fine then." I say, as I sit up.
"Who first?" Matt asks.
"Mmm" Tess wonders.
Chris keeps looking at me, it's weird.
"Gia." Chris says, my eyes immediately go to his.
"What?" I stare, waiting for his stupid response.
"Truth or dare?"
I should be smart about this, I should pick truth, who knows what sort of dare Chris will come up with.
"Dare." I say, as Matt's eyebrows raise, knowing I never choose dare.
Chris laughs to himself, I instantly regret my choice.
"I dare you to jump in the lake, fully clothed."
"What? No way, I'll literally die"
"Dares a dare Gia, don't be so lame" he says, smiling as if he's enjoying my pain.

I sit in contemplation, deciding what to do, there's no way I'm giving Chris the satisfaction of me backing out.
"Fine." I say, as I begin walking out the door, Alahna and Nate still glued to their film as Nick, Tess, Matt and Chris follow me out.

We get to the lake, and I'm cold already, this is such a bad idea.
I stand there, hands on my hips, waiting for my brain to push me in.
"Go on then, do it Gia" Nick says while laughing.
"Omg Nick you're hilarious!!" I say, sarcastically.
I turn back around, Tess egging me on, Matt complaining about how long this is taking.
I step back, preparing myself to just do it. My brain is ready, I'm ready, kind of, and I take a step forward.

"Go Gia! I'm froze out here!!" Nick complains.
"Just give me chance chill ou-"
And before I could finish, I feel a harsh and strong shove on my back, launching me into the lake, it's cold, like hypothermia cold.
My head goes under and I get immediate brain freeze. I can hear muffled "oh my god" s , and I think I'm certain on who pushed me in.
I come back up to see them laughing, especially Chris.
"Chris you fucking idiot!" I shout, as I get myself out of the water.
I walk over to him as he's laughing, and take off my jacket, wrapping it around his neck, making him very very cold and wet.

"Gia! The fuck is wrong with you"
He shouts, as I laugh and run back to the cabin.

"You asked for it bro" Nick says, as they walk back into the cabin.

"You were never gonna do it, we're you?" Tess asks me, "no way!" I'm literally shaking right now.
I head into the bathroom leaving the door open as I'm only using the sink, and Chris walks in to hang his wet shirt on the heater.
I grab a towel and wrap it around me, as I stare at him.
"You're a fucking idiot Chris, my hands are blue! Blue!!"
"It was funny though"
"Truth or dare." I say, my tone as serious as ever.
"What? We're still playing?" He says through nervous chuckles.
"You can't give me a dare and expect nothing back. Truth or dare?"
He sighs, coming closer to me, "I'm not playing." He says, almost whispering.
"Truth. Or. Dare." I say, almost smirking.
