Chapter 5

Hailey's pov

"Me and Jake were walking to the local park. Together. Alone. As... 2 good friends. If I told it like that to someone, it would sound super strange-" my train of thoughts was driving me away when I was snapped by a sudden voice.

"Wanna go get some ice cream?" and it was, of course, my walking partner, excitedly expecting my asnwer with a childish smile.

"Uhh.. yeah, of course." I replied with a smile a little smaller than his.

"Yeaahhh!" Jake shouted louder than anyone would imagine from him. I guess he took it from the Jomies..

"There's the truck nearby! Let's go!" he started racing to the finish line.

"Oh, you're done!" I yelled back, realizing after a few seconds he challenged me.

As we got in front of the ice cream truck, I managed to catch up on the peach-haired boy. And I won, of course.

"Oh.. huff.. how are you SO fast?!"

"Natural, I guess." I flipped my hair, and we couldn't help but start hysterically laughing after a few moments.

"Hello there! What can I get you 2?" Our giggling session was stopped by the ice cream man standing inside the truck.

"Hmm.. I'll get a chocolate, and.." before finishing, Jake turned to me.

"Oh, I'll just have a vanilla cone, thanks."

"Here you go, kids. Have a nice day!" the man waved to us and we did it back.

There was.. kinda of a weird atmosphere for us as we didn't know what to talk about. It's like there was a shining sparkle between me and Jake, that could be felt but not seen. The only things keeping us away from the absolute silence were bird chirps and sound of licking ice cream. And as soon the desserts were gone.. I was the one that needed to start this time.

"Soo.. about Daisy.." I spoke slowly.
"You planned a way to ask her already?" My hands practically crossed themselves as I couldn't get enough of seeing Jake flustered.

"Oh! Hahaha.. yeah.. about that.." he scratched his head, unsure what to say next as he met my questioning face.

".. I'm still not sure how to do it." the peach -blonde boy finished with a shrug.

And just as we were out of reasons to talk (again..), we heard beautiful music, approximately 10 meters from us. Both me and Jake turned our heads at the same time and saw a street musician playing a violin. And, as I moved my eyes from the music man to Jake, I noticed he stared at me with a smile this whole time. Moments of the eye contact passed, then he said the a sentence I was least prepared for.

"Do you know how to dance?"

"W-what..?"

"I asked.. do you know how to dance?" Jake's eyes shined the way I've never seen before.

"Jake, I don- WOAH!" he pulled me towards himself, not waiting for my answer.

"Then perhaps I'll teach you." the voice I was hearing was calm and understanding, I really hated when he talked like that.. it always gave me shivers down my spine.

We started slowly, but soon, we were swaying like we actually knew what we were doing. And, I have to admit, Jake was the one leading me. I was chuckling while he gave me twirls.

"I really gotta say: I didn't expect you to dance so well, Austin." my dancing partner spoke when I started getting energetic.

"Well.. you aren't so bad yourself, Sterling." I replied in a fake refined tone which gave us both giggles.

But, oh boy, wasn't I ready for what Jake next did.

He grabbed my waist and picked me up. And, just like in a fairytale, he spun me around in a 'Disney Princess' way. I really felt the time around us had stopped, and only the melody kept going. It was.. magical.

~time skip~

Once I was home, all the memories of our dance kept getting back to me, and, honestly, it all feels like a fever dream. But the fact that I knew it was real.. it made me scream in my pillow. Yeah, I definitely and finally understood: Jake is gonna be someone special. And I'm willing to let myself into that.

Author here! Sorry I was gone for 2 weeks, I had a lot of assignments for school<3 I really can't believe that while I was gone, I got, wait.. 420+ READS?! Y'ALL ARE AMAZING, TYSMM♡♡

And btw, sorry for the cheesy writing, I wanted to post ASAP😭 (reference to the Rosy's latest video).

I'm not sure when I'm going to write in chapter 6, but it will be soon, I promise!
