The first memory I have of falling is from kindergarten.
An asshole named Ethan pushed me down the grass because I was next in line for the monkey bar.

I remember his laugh-- and I remember how angry I got.

So, when he climbed his way up and dangled, I did the only logical thing I could think of.

I pulled his pants down.

Everyone laughed, and he let go of the bars and came crashing down the grass, just like I did.

I looked at his crying face, and I smiled.

Right now, I'm not smiling.

Back then, I barely got even a scratch out of Ethan's push, but when a grown officer crashes you down the pavement, you can bet your ass you'd get a nasty bruise.

But it looks like I was the only victim, because the two assholes I'm sharing a cell with are looking as fresh as ever.

"That looks like shit, Ollie." Theo taunted, pushing his finger right above my eyebrow, touching my very painful open wound.

Swatting his hand away, I hissed in pain. "Get off me!"

He chuckled and turned away, but before he could get any farther, I kicked his shin.

"I deserved it." he muttered in pain and slid down the wall across me.

"I can't believe it!" I banged my head against the wall.
The pain was nothing against the anger I felt.
"I can't believe we got arrested! How the hell did that happen?"

We've never been arrested before.
When we got here, they immediately took our fingerprints, photos, and what not. After years of running away, we are now officially in the system.

We were always so carful, God! Those cops just had to be there.

But looking back at my past, I've never been the lucky type.
First, got abandoned at the worst orphanage that this planet ever knew, then got blessed with sixteen failed adoptions. The only good that came out of the orphanage was meeting Ares and Theo.

We were always a good for nothing trio, so it was no surprise that when we got adopted, we knew that eventually we'd reunite back at our old room with another shitty experience to share with the others.

Ares, he always got in troubles with his fists.
Theo just couldn't fit anywhere, and me? Man, I guess I'm a mix.

Ninety-nine percent of the families that sent me back couldn't handle a troubled kid like me.
It was either the non-ending suspensions at school, or the back talking that irked them.

Instead of trying to help, they gave up.
My entire childhood I dreamt about someone who won't give up on me, but then I grew up.

The three of us realized that we have to stick together, because this world is cruel.

But now? Looking at their annoying faces, I seriously doubt this decision.

"Oh, but we all know how it happened." Theo mused. His eyes dug holes into Ares, who was sitting right next to me.

I felt his body tense.

"Care to repeat that?" he hissed from my side. "It almost sounded like you were blaming me for-"

"I am blaming you, shithead! You just had to stick your tongue up Keyla's girl's mouth, didn't you?" Theo retaliated, pointing his finger at him.

I swear, I could feel Ares roll his eyes.
"Big fucking deal! you are the reason I met her anyway!" he threw his arms in the air.
"Why the fuck did you not find out it was her we were selling the pills to?"

I cringed from his loud tone and choice of words. "Keep it down, geniuses. We're at a police station!"

Theo was more than ready to ignore me and continue their shouting match, but when he looked at my face, he suddenly stopped. "Shit, it looks worse."

Not understanding what he's referring to, I scrunched my eyebrows.
And then, when the pain from that stupid movement hit me, I realized what he meant.

Ares' firm hand gently pushed my chin to the side, so he could have a good look.

I looked at him while his hazel eyes scanned my face with worry.
"Damn, Ollie. We need to clean it."

Yeah, we truly need. I can feel my pulse up there.

Theo scooted closer, now sitting right in front of me. "Any observations, doctor?" I smiled teasingly at him.

He was always the one that knew what to do after we did something stupid.
I think it was because of his brother.
He's six years older than us, and back at the orphanage, he always made sure Theo knew how to deal with his stuff.
He taught him how to treat a wound correctly, along with many other things.

Theo didn't smile back, too focused on my face.
"We can get a clothing wet from that shitty water dispenser in the corner, I--"

Before he could finish, Ares took off his shirt and poured water on it.
His muscles flexing with every movement he makes.

Theo stared in disbelief, while I tried not to laugh at them.
"You were just dying to take off your shirt, jackass! Unbelievable!" he gawked, and I let out a chocked laugh.
I immediately winced. God, it hurts moving my face.

"Shut up, I just care about Olive's wound. You said we needed some clothing, and I don't see something else."
Ares threw the wet shirt right at Theo's stunned face.

"Dude, I'm literally wearing a jacket."
